Hi, I (as in my wife) have just bought a 2004 Tdi SE.
Is the A2 the best kept secret in the world? The car seems to have the ability to make me grin as soon as I get in!

I have a problem with the drivers window though. When closing it, it reopens a few inches as if something has been trapped in it. It takes a few attempts to close it by inching it up very slowly. Has anyone else had this problem?

The car is still under warranty from the garage we bought it from so he should be sorting it for us but I would like to have an understanding of the problem so I can make sure he repairs it correctly!

We also have the erratic indicators which appear to be a standard fit on the A2! Having read the relavent threads I will be pointing him in the right direction along with a part number!

Chris.

Hi Chris, welcome to the A2oc
The windows may just need resetting which often happens if the battery has been disconnected at some time. The procedure is in the owners manual in the electric windows section but Skipton also gives some instructions in the attached link

Thanks for the advice Spike, just carried out the reset & it appears to be working! I knew it was worth asking the question!

Thanks for the welcome, I have to say this is one of the best owners clubs/forums I have come across. It looks fantastic, is very easy to use & the enthusiasm of you & the other guys comes across in spades!

Many thanks,

Chris.

Hi,

If your sticking window re-occurs - it might be that the furry vertical glass guides are causing too much friction. I had this with my A2 - even after resetting the closed position. The solution was to spray a small amount of PTFE spray down the runners in the window frame. It now shuts like a charm.

Thanks Ben, has happened a couple more times each time reset has worked for a few operations. I'll now take a look at the guides.
