oil leak from rocker gasket

hi recently bought 1.4tdi but found that the rear of the rocker gasket has a small leak .i took it to the local garage for a quote thinking it was a minor job only to be told it was a major job as they can't access the rear of the cover and would need to drop the engine to get the cover off and replace the gasket does any one know if this is true and if not how can you access the rear any advise welcome as they quoted around £500 .

Hi Wayne
Another club member had the rocker cover gasket changed for around £76 so it looks like your local garage does not have a clue about working on A2's.
It may be worth trying a VW dealer as they have access to all the Audi service info but with much lower labour rates

I had mine done under warranty in 2002 and watched them do it. Half hour or so from inside the engine compartment.
