Having lived with the Discomfort of alarm going off, flashing hazard, windows refusing to open fully. I need to know if the car alarm has a battery, which needs to be charged. The car works fine on a long run. Battery is not losing charge but the problems persists when it has not been used for a few days. I would be grateful if any one know where the car alarm is situated.
Thanks

Hi A202, welcome to the A2oc
The alarm module is situated below the drivers side back light unit. Unless you have a factory fit CD changer on the same side of the boot it means a lot of trim needs to be removed for access.(the CD changer side trim has a much larger access panel for the rear light unit which makes it just possible to get to the alarm)
The module has a back-up battery which deteriorates with age so this could be your problem - see links for more details

No, the module is a sealed unit and costs around £75

Thanks Spike
Is there a part number for this unit or do I need the chassis number of the car?

Don't forget that if you do a VAG-COM scan it will tell you why the alarm is going off. It may be nothing to do with the alarm module itself but one of the sensors/switches that trigger it. Might save you 70 quid.
