View Full Version : Roll-up, roll-up! It's Curry Meet, Rolling Road and Something Else time once again..!

Following the great success of last years meet in and around the Coventry area where we spent the day at the Midland Air Museum and then topped the event off with a nice hot Indian (er, Curry); the now annual pre-Christmas event is back!

I know many have been chomping at the bit to find out when we'll be holding this meet, and I apologise for not posting up sooner however I've been on holiday..

Last time around we weren't able to get the rolling road session incorporated in the day, but this year things are all set to go thanks to Robin (who sends his apologies for not being around much of late) and Vince at Stealth who already has us booked in.

The proposal is as follows:

Sunday 2nd December

Meet up at Stealth Racing (http://www.stealthracing.co.uk - Just off J12 M40) at midday for the opportunity to find out the REAL power and torque figures for your A2. Petrol or TDI, standard or remapped; if you've never had this done before it'll be a great insight. It's great to compare your cars results with that of others. Price tba but usually circa £25-35 per run.
Once everyone who wishes to have a run has done so, move off in convoy mid-afternoon to a yet undecided attraction (Post suggestions please - those with local knowledge!)
Finally, head to the same curry house as last year for a hearty meal and an evening of top class conversation! Items of discussion will no doubt include the days events, A2 modifications spied on other members cars, club merchandise and development as well as the usual friendly banter!

As always, A2OC socials are friendly, open and family events so partners and enthusiastic offspring are always welcome!

Maps etc will be posted in due course, but for now please register your interest in the calendar HERE (http://www.a2oc.net/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&day=2007-12-2&c=1)- I will need to know numbers to confirm rolling road prices and to book the restaurant. In the meantime I'll be interested to hear suggestions for mid-late afternoon activities!

If you want to see how we got on last year, click here (http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4553)

I'm in!

Not sure of what to do in the afternoon, but there's a good chance that by the time we've finished off at Stealth, a short run around to Coventry will see us just about right to start the meal.

Cheers,

Mike

It might fit in well I'm just about to book a flight to dublin and back on the 1st dec and
from london I can go back home for the 1st :)

One question though I don't like curry, so have they got non spicy food I can order?

and.. I was thinking of having the car remapped do you think they can fit that in?
however not sure if I can afford it yet.

Skipton01
14-11-2007, 09:36 PM
There is a full alternative menu available, or you can go for a non-spicy curry, like the good old korma.

I would have thought that Vince could put a map into your ECU whilst John was doing the rolling bit, but best to confirm this.

Cheers,

Mike

You know what it's like at this time of year!

Would love to get on the RR, so I will try, but looks doubtful.

Please can you enrol in the calendar (details first post) if you will be along next Sunday (2nd December).

So far, counting partners, I estimate circa 15 people for the curry. I need to book this during the next few days, so if you have indicated you might be along, please make sure that you've signed up to the event in the calendar and indicated in this thread if your other 3/4's will be attending!

Also: please post up if you are attending the curry BUT NOT the Rolling Road!

Maps, times and meeting places will be posted later this week!

Thanks,

Ian

I don't think the general workshop facilities are run on the rolling road days, but you can always ask. The fronts are the most awkward to swap too, taking a good couple of hours, plus tracking.

Ian,

Myself, Di and Kayleigh will make every effort to be there. Pen us in and I will advise you if things change.

Curry only for us; I already have the Stealth rolling road output figures from earlier in the year.

Cheers,

P.S. When I say curry for us, that doesn't include a vindaloo for Kayleigh; though with her appetite for food she would probably enjoy it to be fair!! ;)

I started my railway career as a cleaner Carl; so after spending several months cleaning up after other people, (if you know what I mean), Kayleigh is a pleasure!! :p

Besides, just ask Di next time you see her 'exactly when she changed Kayleigh's first nappy' - it must have been a week and a half at least; as I gladly took ownership of the task from the outset.

Know what you mean about the mastic though... too much detail!! ;)

Many apologies, but I'm timed out for this one, which is a shame as I would love to spin the tin can on the rolling road. :-( I have to be on call on the early evening of Sunday, and I couldn't bear to leave before the curry! I just didn't have enough time to swap slots at work.

Have a great day all, and hope to see you soon (as well as all those lovely power and torque plots).

Although we only attended the curry, (slurp :p), it was great to catch up with everyone again before the year comes to a close.

A big thanks go to Ian for organising this now annual feast - it was an all round great evening; good food and good company. Also worth a mention is the A2OC male model... aka Mike... for donning the latest A2OC merchandise - the branded polo shirt and fleece. Well done to Carl for all of his efforts on pulling these together, they look really good and I will be putting my name down on the list for one.

For organizing this was impressed that he managed to get a car from each class on the rolling road it was very interesting to compare how each car Petrol or Diesel perfomed against each other and see all the different Bhp/Torque figures .....

And also a great turnout for the Curry afterwards i really do think all who attend they know who they are are becoming like part of the family LOL :D

I Think this should be a regular event on the A2OC Calender....

Great day out as usual - thanks to our new social secretaries!

We'll have to get a list of the readings from the RR, it'd be interesting statistics for reference. I know that you had a nice surprise as Vince gave you the latest 75PS map, taking you from 98BHP to 110BHP in 5 minutes - all for free.

It was gratifying to know that Tank is still the most powerful A2 in the UK (probably) and will be getting a little boost too, hopefully in the next couple of weeks;)

I will propose that we have another curry social in February - Transport museum in the daytime and Sonar Goan in the evening.

Thanks also to Carl for the clothing, which is brilliant - I'll be putting in another order soon!
