I recently picked-up another longlife spare litre of oil for my A2 (TDI75). I've just compared this with the old bottle (Castrol SLXII 506 01) and noticed the new one is 'Castrol SLXIII 504'.

I've had a look in my owners manual and 504 isn't noted under any of the specifications for petrol or diesel; I rang Bedford Audi (not the dealer who supplied it) and they weren't sure on any of the specifications (...) but he unconvincingly suggested it was 'probably' a newer oil for newer engines. Yeah, cheers mate...

So, has anyone heard of SLXIII (note 3 rather than 2) 504 and is it OK? Not put any in yet, as I don't need any at the moment.

Just to note I have put 1L of oil in over 33000 miles, and it's about 75% up the dip stick; not bad.

You should be using Castrol EDGE 5w 30 504/507- It will say on the label that it replaces Longlife II in small letters around the logo. Audi UK sell this but opie oils is the cheapest supplier - bought 8L for £70

Longlife III is a different type of oil
