What is the blank panel on the dash do?

the panel on the top of the dash in the centre, it looks like a tv spot for the sat nav? is that it or someother nice thing...?

I'd love a tv to pop up from there, :cool::cool:

It's nothing but a decorative moulded line in the top. On other cars in the VAG range (Polos), there is a small shallow try there for putting nick-nacks in, but it's about as much use as a chocolate fire-guard!

The trouble is that the air ducts go under that area, so you can't have anything with much depth there. Some people have adapted this area though, but if you **** it up with the Dremel, a new dash will cost you over £600!!!

Thanks for that photo John. I didn't realise it was as deep as that - there certainly isn't the same space in the A2, which is probably why there's no tray option - things would just keep falling out.
