I recently bought a used (03 plate) A2 1.4 sport, with 17 inch, 9 spoke alloys.

I took the car to an AUDI garage for an MOT and they failed it, claimimg that both rear alloys were distrorted. Another garage passed the MOT with no problems, not even mentioning the alloys as a warning. The tester informed me verbally that they were slightly buckled and to keep an eye on them. I have two questions:

1. Has anyone else had a bad experience of these alloys buckling
2. Does anyone know the cheapest way to source replacements (brand new only).

Thanks in advance

Hi Dan,

This is a well known issue and more can be found out here:

One thing to remember though, these are NOT RS4 alloys, only in the style of the RS4. The original pukka RS4 wheels were said to be designed to allow buckling, to prevent damage to the running gear, but they were also 18" wheels.

Take a look at that link anyway and take it from there.

Cheers,

Mike
