Hi again...

Just out of interest [and browsing ebay] are there any other audi model alloys that bolt straight onto the a2 ???? Preferably 16" with higher than 40 tyre width?

Unfortunately i'm no expert on alloys wheel specs.... so straight bolt ons would be easier ;)

(I suspect this post should be in the Wheels and Tyres section)

You need 5x100 et38 (or thereabouts).

The older A3s, VW Golf (3 and 4) and some Seats (older Leon, Ibiza) all have this size PCD.

As for tyres, some answers here:

I've found some audi TT wheels with these specs:

7x16 et.31 5x100 Centre Bore Ø 57.1.

Would these go on with ease?

I'm fairly sure they will, yes. They sound similar in spec to what Schnelletrecker has in the above thread.

I think you'll find that these are the exact same wheels that Martings has on one of his A2s - they're the 7 spoke ones right?

this is sounding good.... but the only difference is that the tyres are are 205/55/16.

Would these be ok with a standard A2 Sport suspension setup?

I guess they might, just, clear but I think you'd want to change those for an A2.

not 7 spoke but 5 spoke [ pic attached]

Ah, nice.

One fly in the ointment though, 205/55 R 16 will be too big to fit under the arches. That cimbination will give a diameter of 632mm and the biggest adviseable for the A2 is 610mm - anything more will rub and if you have mudflaps, it won;t even fit.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi,
I am planning to buy a set of S3 or TT 17" rims, I know their PCD and offset are OK to fit the A2. Both are 7,5J wide. I also know that original 17" tyres dimension on A2 is 205/40-17 (on 7J rims).
I am wondering if I could fit 195/45-17 on those 7,5J rims ? Wouldn't they be too narrow ?
If not, that would be a good choice, as a width of 195mm is enough for such a light and not powerful car. And the sidewalls of 195/45 tyres would be a bit higher than 205/40, what would improve comfort and add precision to the speedo.
Thanks in advance :)

It's a tricky and subjective issue this.

As many know, I have TT wheels on Tank, 7.4J x 17 ET38 and fitted with 215/40 tyres.

With Koni FSDs, this gives a firm but very acceptable ride.

You could go to 205/45 but mudflaps are a no-no, as they'll rub otherwise. Check with tyre manufacturers websites for recommended rim widths for each tyre width to check as well, as if you fit a tyre deemed too narrow, there will be no comebacks from the tyre manufacturer and your insurance will probably be invalid too.

Cheers,

Mike

thanks for replying, Skipton01.
After some research, I've found the answer : it's OK.
From Yokohama's S-Drive specs : (http://www.yokohamatire.com/pdf/S.drive%20bulletin%20FINAL.pdf)
(that's indeed one of the very few tyres models that come in that particular 195/45-17 dimension)
Approved rim width goes from 6J up to 7.5J
