Hi chaps iv,e had a look at my tyres as the mot is due next month iv,e noticed i have a bulge(egg) in my near side rear tyre and my off side front is near to the wear indicator on the outside edge.

What i wanted to ask is the tyre size on now is 175/60/15 can i put 185/55/15s on the rear but leave 175/60/15s on the front changing a couple of wheels round of course.

Would this cause any problems with rubbing i know as long as both tyres on the same axle are the same size theres no problem.

Cheers for any help

185s are smaller. They don't rub, that's what I use as winter tyres.

I don't know of anyone on any of the forums who has done this with the exception of one guy in Germany with 225s at the back and 205s at the front. What it does for ESP? No idea.

If you feel the need to mix (no way I would do it, and the tyres with more tread would always go to the back for me...) fair enough, but why is the outside at the wear indicator?

I have recently put Michelin Pilot Primacy 195/50R16 on the rear axle and moved the original rear wheels to the front. The front axle now have Michelin Primacy 185/50R16. Handling is exquisite! Just waiting for the front tyres to wear down and I will replace them with Michelin 195/50R16

That would be my plan as there is still plenty of tread left on the two i will be putting on the front.

I think the reason for the uneven wear on the front off side tyre is because the shocker was completly knackered.
