View Full Version : Hello Helsinki!
Hello to all you Finnish A2 owners - I am currently in the centre of Helsinki and will be for the next week as part of a study trip
No A2's spotted on the way from the airport but I expect to see plenty while I'm out and about; I understand May 1st is a big holiday in Finland, looking forward to spending some time in this place!

Hi and welcome!
May 1st is an official hangover-day. Traditionally those who can will gather to picknic at Kaivopuisto-park. Look out for drunken teenagers on Wednesday. ;)
Well, I have just spent a drunken evening by the harbour (South Harbour I think, near the Spanish Embassy) in the company of a pile of battered Finnish tenagers and blokes in their 60's trying to light a cigarette at the filter end (how drunk!) which is a surreal experience. Sadly I was drinking beer rather than the customary sparkling wine!
Tomorrow we are off to some park to watch one of our group Morris Dance (don't ask) followed by a journey to Alvo Altar's sanitorium; if I was an Architect I would be gushing, but as a Building Surveyor I will simply be creating a professional opinion!
Finn's seem to love porta-loo's as it takes for ever to get into one despite the que being small!!!

A very common custom here, too, especially at this time of year. :o
Yes, the street's of Helsinki did seem to become a public toilet last night, followed by a trough in which to be sick! However, I don't perform for an audience...
