Hi, my insurance in due this month which means I would have had the old a2 a whole year... I have insurance with zurich right now but I like the idea of keeping ncb and not having to pay excess for things that are not your fault.

Anyone have any comments on directline :)

We're with Direct line and have been for a few years now.
When we had the accident in the Audi a few years ago, they coughed up with a replacement car no problems. Prices are cheap for us as we've also got home and pet insurance with them - again any claims we've made on the other policies have been dealt with easily.

I too am with Direct Line and as long as you keep an eye on renewal prices each year (their automatic one that comes through the post is usually higher than a re-quote on the web) they are good value and seem fine.

Never had to make a big claim, but the little one I had a few years back was sorted efficiently, after I insisted on the bodyshop (they wanted to send it to their own repairer, I insisted on an Audi aluminium bodyshop).

Cheers,

Mike

Received the renewal today from zurich to my big disappointment they have took a wopping £75 off from last years price that this years price is still £1300. I have done a quote on the website and managed to get it down to around £1000. That is still well expensive I haven't got money like that hanging around :(

Will keep trying direct line and look for some others. I haven't even made one claim last year and they think im blooming stupid

The best offer I can get to is just over £900 with direct line so I will be joining them later this month :)

Have you tried an online quote with Direct Line - I usually find them cheaper than the auto renewal and when I phone them, they say, 'just cancel and take out a new policy online then'!

Worth a punt - even if it's only a 5% saving, that's another £45 in your pocket.

Cheers,

Mike

Try one of the comparsion sites like confused.com.

They're OK but don't include Direct Line quotes, so you'll never know what their online quote is unless you ise their site.

Cheers,

Mike

I did go and do a quote on directline before calling, the person couldn't find any other ways to lower the price. I'm quite happy with that price I have but i'll do another quote before my insurance is due and make sure it has not lowered in price before purchasing.

They tell me they are the only UK supplier to have free, will not affect NCB or increase premium for vandalism and uninsured drivers.

We were with Privilege for a few years (same company as direct line) and had excellent service when my old Punto was hit by a learner driver. However...

...when my A2 was forced off the road by a HGV, which was claimed as a 'my fault' accident because I was unable to take any details of the truck whilst trying not to have a big accident at 50mph, they were generally appalling. Since then I have left and am now insured through Adrian Flux who have given me a competetive quote and higher standard of insurance (includes 30 days Europe travel).

I have been looking at a quote for when I change my address in a month or so and the price I paid with directline is over £200 cheaper at the new address in devon, just wondering will they refund me the difference minus the small charge to change my address.. anybody know or do I need to ask them..

don't know why the price is so steep, thought i was paying alot at just under £300 with the AA. Its worth giving them a ring you've got nothing to loose

Cheers Phil

Just got my renewall from Elephant - then went online to Confused.com and moneysupermarket.com, got the two best quotes from them (both £60 lower than the renewall), phoned back Elephant to ask them what they could do to prevent me moving my business and they've matched the best price. £260 fully comp. Pleased with that. Done deal.

Moral of the story - shop around, and shop around some more, and don't take the first renewall price as the only one...

Now that is a good price, well done! What restrictions have you got on your policy, or is that all because of living in Inverness?!
