I've had my 1.4 petrol for a couple of weeks now and the first tank of fuel returned just under 40MPG which was purely round town driving. I am quite happy with that as it is nearly double what I was getting from my previous Leon Cupra.

Hi, i'm getting around 45 mpg but ocasionally drop to low of 38, on the other hand motorway driving(in 5th) around 52/54 upper sevent'ys, these figures are covering a 3 year area time span!
ps, do like the shell 'V' power, gives smoother performance & better mpg, but costs more dosh,
cheers ,ALAN.

Hi There,I've had my A2 for nearly 7 years and I still regularly get 40-50 mpg around town and 50-60 on motorway runs.I work as a community nurse so am stop/start driving all day, with the horrendous fuel prices at the moment I still feel quite smug as I only fill her up every 10days or so!!

Is there a way to see the mpg or do you have to calculate it?

Hi Erik
Cars with DIS (driver information system) can display instant and average fuel consumption. I think one club member fitted an aftermarket display which also gave fuel consumption readings among other things.

Cheers Spike

I've had my 1.4 petrol since 2003. In town (central London) I get as low as 35mpg but then we're talking about sitting in idle traffic. When I do the better runs on the A40 west way at night, I can easily get 40+ mpg. Motorway I even managed 55 driving at a steady 70mph.
