Hi guys (and gals), new here so be gentle, I need to get new tyres for the front of the A2, currently she's wearing 185/55/R6 which are a pig to get hold of and expensive, I've heard and seen on here that 185/50/R16 fit and also 205/45/R16.
Which would be the best to go for? and would I encounter any problems fitting either going from whats on now.

One small problem - your current tyres are non-standard for the A2!
185/55 is very unusual, even compared to the standard 185/50 section tyres, normally worn by SEs.
To ensure more plentiful stocks and a wider choice, go for 195/50 R 16 tyres.
Cheers,
Mike

Another recommendation for 195/50/16. So much more comfortable for a start and now I have Toyo T1-Rs which are much quieter as well.

Thanks for the replys, I checked the tryes last night and they are 185/50/R16, silly me, the 195/50/R16 would they be ok on the front if the rears are still 185's or would I be better off putting the 185's on the front and the 195's on the rear?

While I don't think the small size difference will make much impact, I prefer to have 4 of identical size. Unless your fronts are not road legal, I would swap the front and back until anyone of them is not road worthy then change all four.

Hi Connor,
I have 185 on the front and 195 on the rear. The tyre fitter refused to fit 195 to the front and 185 to the back as he said it was not legal. This topic has been discussed here before, so you should be able to find it by using the search facility.
My 195 are Toyo's too.

Hi Adrenaline,
I have been away on holiday, so I this is the first opportunity I have had to reply. I have exactly the arrangement that you describe and I have had no problems. When the fronts wear out, I will change them to 195.

Look at Poor Johns' car details - he has FSDs fitted, so the harch ride will be no more, even with those fuel economy friendly inflation figures!

Mike

how does your car ride on Kondi FSD's?
is it compliant? or still pretty firm?

It's firm, but far more forgiving than standard - all the crashiness is gone, a little like an A3 with S-line suspension.
Cheers,
Mike
