Have an SE model with standard 16" 6-spoke alloys. Tyres are standard 185/50-16, which due to their unusual size limits the options available. Was thinking of fitting 205/45-16. These have same circumference and sidewall height as oem tyres, speedo readout will be correct. Cannot see a problem ref 'clearance' using these tyres. Anyone fitted 205/45-16? Was thinking Toyo proxes T1-R or Avon ZZ3. Anyone know the rim size of my alloys, 6 x 16 or 7 x 16 ??? Thanks

Your standard SE rims are 6J (i.e. 6" wide) so not all 205 tyres will be suitable - best off sticking to 195/50s

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks Skipton. Yes having done a bit more research it seems with 6" rims then 195 is as wide as you should go. Thanks again

i've been running 205x45x16 for the last 3 years.

Dunlop SP9000's are my order of the day.

What's the speedo impact of going from a 185/50 to a 195/50?

~1.3% increase in circumference of the tyre. So your speedo reading will be more accurate but I suspect it will still over read a little. So instead of pushing 35mph at the cameras, do 33 ;-). Not in anyway encouraging you to speed though!

That's worth knowing - have to get to the point of changing all 4 tyres at once, which I think will take me some time!
