My A4 had a nice feature on the indicators whereby if you did a quick flick, they would give you three flashes - nice for easy lange-changing on motorways for example. I got very used to this mode.
My A2 doesn't have this. Can it be enabled/modded?

Yes, at;
http://www.cum-cartec.de/
you can order a "Komfortblinker". You can also find him on eBay.
I did it some time ago, very easy !
You have to remove the ashtray (torx screws) and the "cubby hole" (first unclip the surrond, then pull the cubby hole). The indicators relay is there behind. You remove the relay itself, plug it on the relay holder of the "Komfortblinker kit", and finally plug this kit (in fact a loom) on the holder of the original relay. That's it :)

Hi Dan
There is some good info and pics on removal of the standard indicator relay in the attached thread if you're planning to do the mod.

VAGParts will sell it I presume?

VAGParts will sell you one, but will not hold it in stock - a dealer will be far quicker, usually within a day.

Cheers - I'm not in any great hurry.
I do like VAGParts, they've always come up with the goods at a good price, much prefer to try and do my business with these sorts of independent retailers if I can. No connection to seller to declare!

I know what you mena and understand the supporting of indy sellers, but, the postage on top of the slight discount will make it more expensive than from a dealer in this instance.

This part is 'brand inhibited' at Audi dealers, therefore you'll need to visit your nearest VW outlet. Price is £35.01.
Weather dependant, I should hopefully fit mine tonight.

Let us know how straightforward a fitting job it is - time wise and skin-loss wise ;)

Well, that was a waste of time
It's not as easy as it sounds to remove the cubby hole trim, but in my case there was no need to remove the ashtray. Once I finally got at the indicator relay it soon became apparent that this part DOES NOT fit the A2.. the A2's relay module clips in via a 10-pin connector, this part has an 8-pin connector.
Therefore there must be a few variants of this item out there and the one I have isn't the one required.. back to the dealer I go for a refund :(

You'll be lucky to get a refund Ian - pretty much all Audi UK dealers will not accept returns of electronic parts and it probably says this on the invoice somewhere.

I will check with Cum-Cartec that i mentioned in my first reply. He is advertising the Komfort Blinker for all Audi's, the A2 as well.
When it has 10-pins i will order one for myself and post the results.
I bought mine from a German ebay powerseller and it said "Audi A2 Komfortblinker kit". I paid around 45€. I didn't count the number of pins, though...
Fitting was really straightforward but, as Driveforward says, the trickier part of the job is to unclip the surround trim of the cubby hole. I did it a second time since then (to replace my climate unit with one with switches for heated seats), and I wasn't better at unclipping that damn surround. I even broke a 2nd clip :(
BTW,what's the part number of that surround in black ?

Yes, checked it with Cum-cartec and got confirmed that;
http://www.cum-cartec.de/index.html?http://www.cum-cartec.de/audi_audi_a2/audi_a2_komfortblinker_nachruestsatz4753.html
definitely works on an A2.
He didn't confirm about the 10-pins though, if you decide to order you better double check this with him.
Still didn't order one for myself, apart from €45,- for the blinker you also pay nearly €20,- for P&P and a paypall fee. I got doubts if that's worth it...

After a good nightrest i decided to order the blinker. Btw, there is a cheaper postage option available...
Lets hope it all works...

Received my "Komfortblinker" today. It has 2 connectors (male/ fem.) 10-pins each as you can see on the picture.
The install took about 10 minutes and is very easy to do.
Hello everyone,
I just bought a "komfortblinker adaptator" from ebay and it looks like the part 000 971 123 (see http://www.passatplus.de/umbauten/blinker/000971123.jpg).
The type of connector it is is like the one you can better see on the top right corner of this picture http://www.kunset.de/images/kabelkomfortblinkerrelais.jpg
You can see the various possible items on :http://www.passatplus.de/umbauten/blinker/index.htm
I asked how to install it and this is their answer:
"Hallo!
Brewing Blue line (6): Mass
White Head (8) to pin 3
Head rind (4) terminal 15 (ignition Plus)
Yellow gray line (2) to pin 5
Grey Management (5) to pin 7
Now just to relay the relay makers stuck and ready.
The relay has the following part number 000 953 227 A"
As you can see, my part has a big connector more square than rectangle (like these shown by Jörgen). Do you think it will work on my A2 or not and if well, how?
mine didn't look like this...
It is a loom with "custom" connectors on both sides. (i.e. it hasn't separate wires)
All I had to do was unplug the indicator relay from its holder and plug it onto the relay holder of the "komfortblinker kit" loom, and then plug the connector of the "komfortblinker kit" loom to that indicator relay holder.
