Hi Guys,

Great site. One quick question. I am looking for an A2 that is capable of doing 20k p.a...What would you recommend? Any tips/ideas..

Is petrol an option? What are the 'real time' MPG???

Thanks

TJS:cool:

I do 20k per year no problems in a diesel

we've done 148,000 in ours from new June 02! (and we haven't used it for last 3 months, as we've been away!)

so yes a diesel will have no problems, ours averages around 60mpg... I wouldn't entertain a petrol.

servicing has been around 30,000 apart.

I've covered 42K in the last twenty months, had one full service, new cambelt and water pump, two new injectors, front anti-roll bar bushes, two new front discs and pads and two new tyres:eek: returning 50 miles per gallon - so added all up I'm not convinced that this is really cheap motoring:rolleyes: perhaps we have a mathemetician on the forum who can do the sums for me.

Thanks,

Phil

PS, I nearly forgot, I've currently got a broken front nearside coil spring broken and are on back order from Audi. Lord knows what this is going to cost.

Hi TJS, A a2 petrol 1.4 car should average out around the 44/46 mpg, more on motorways/
less on town work, or if you have a (heavy right foot!!), use Shell 'v' power for smoother performance, hope this helps, cheers,
ALAN.

I've been averaging 30,000pa in 1.4 TDi for last 6 years - only major issue was slight leak in steering rack last year - Service interval about 30,000 and averaging 67mpg according to info system but mainly motorway use - When this one dies I'll be after another low mileage model without hesiatation, but hopefully that's some way off :D

yes it was started every month, (started 1st time everytime) and taken round the block... (5 miles) I'm sure it would be OK if it was left 3 months...

Mine is a base model 02 1.4 tdi. I've done 27K in 15 months mainly motorway commuting which has taken the overall mileage to 86K. Averaging 65 to 70mpg. Only problems have been the indicator flasher unit and the brake light switch. It will be needing some front tyres soon but that's not bad considering that I haven't changed them since i got it and there is still some legal tread left on them. Servicing wise for me, oil change every 10k. Given the running costs, I'll be keeping mine for quite some time i think! :)
