View Full Version : Best Colour is Black !!!!

OK, just wanted to post a thread as this category is currently empty. Sorry for such a weak question, however here goes;

What are you top three colours for an A2?

1) Black
2) Have seen a light blue (sky blue?) in my area which also looks pretty cool.
3) Silver

As I'm writing this, got a feeling Stuart already did this? Correct?

You're totally wrong :D

Amulet Red is by far the best colour for an A2 !!

The red extrapolates the stunning looks and design of the car and gives it a headturning appearance. Colours like black and dark blue make the car to dark and silver is a bit like grey.

Another nice colour is dolphin-grey, very stylish !

My top three are in the style of all the best charts (reverse order)

In third place black, hard to keep clean

Second place is silver, good but too common

But the winner is cobalt blue as it is what I chose although also now quite common.

Phil-how can you say silver is common-I don't see another A2 from one week to the next!:)

There is a silver one in my work car park and he got there first so from my perspective it is more common than say dolphin grey which I have yet to see!

The only other private A2 I have seen was the very dark blue (cobalt is it). Looked ok (but then the car was very dirty).

Other than that my local Audi dealer has many different colours on their fleet. A nice light green/blue caught my eye the other day.

But I do agree red is very good looking.

I think I will start an interior colour post on the board!.

That colour is known as Island Green - a light green/blue metallic. I nearly bought one that colour.

Actually, on the red colour issue, I saw a TT in amulet red - it looked absolutely stunning - probably because most are silver or black.

As to how common A2s are - well, there is one in my town in black - same as mine but with a roof rack and often a ladder (obviously a discerning window cleaner - or fashionable burglar) - one in the next town in cobalt blue and I saw one in the shops in silver - although the woman in that one was nearly as attractive as the car - drool city!

Agree about the adrk interior though - mine is black and despite the fact that the car is not used that often, it is always pigging! But I haven't actually tried cleaning it - whatever that is. In the past, my cars are usually cleaned by dealers while being serviced - I hope Audi dealers are as welcoming - although the VSI may mean that it will be much dirtier than before.

Dennis you're correct, Amulet red is a cool colour for an A2, (speaks the owner of such a car).

The only problem is my kids have nick named it "The Lady Bug", due to the black sky roof, NOT COOL. They have even threatened to stick black circles on it, KIDS!!

Second favorite colour is Azure blue and third is ever popular silver.

My car is cobalt blue metallic, but I've got to say that by far the nicest colour I have ever seen the A2 in is Amulet red. My uncle has a TT in amulet red and it looks stunning too.

The other colour that is possibly even nicer but I have never seen in reality can be seen on my site in the 'Standard Clipart Page 1' - it's a creamy white colour and looks amazing with red leather.

Anyone ever seen one of these?

I think the A2 looks cl***y in most of its colours but looking at the owners club survey on Stuarts site, silver could almost be cl***ed as common (approx 50%). If it wasn't so popular we might have chosen it ourselves. However we've gone down the unexplored route of Merlot Red. Time will tell whether people think this colour suits the car.

As it stands at this moment in time tho'

1) Black - to hard to keep clean but looks the dogs.
2) Silver - Mini A8
3) Amulet Red - Stand out from the crowd

Hi :)!

My favourite colours for the A2 would be:
1) Avus silver (you can get this by paying an extra £1740)
2) Silver
3) Dolphin grey

As you can see from my signature i opted for the silver.
Would really have liked to have it in Avus Silver but £1740 is too
much just for a different colour.
Planning to spend those on a chip for the little TDI and a DVD player instead :D

Thanks for the welcome to the forum by the way.
I agree that I might have gotten lost in the options list :D but that's part of the fun of buying a new car instead of a used one.
The joy of building your own dream car :)

Well, I also wanted the "Automatic dipping rear view mirror" but this wasn't compatible with the Open Sky roof and the same with the Towbar and BOSE sound system, no luck there either :(, so I chose the BOSE system over the Towbar.

You have to come to the UK when we have the meet to show us-love the sound of the sat nav and tv option-is it widescreen with dolby surround-sound?;)

We certainly don't have the CHEAP european prices here in Norway :)
The list price of my A2 here in Norway is app. £28.900, but as an
Audi employee i get a discount on the car (app. 11%).
When are you having the meet ?
My car will be delivered in mid November !

The TV-Nav screen is a 5 inch 4:3 screen (normal TV format) !

I'll send you some pictures when I get my hands on the car ;) and some impressions of the Sat-Nav.

Stuart_D (A2 Owners Club)is organising the meet-no doubt he will be posting details soon!. Tough job, but I'm sure Stuart will do a fine job!.

I presume the sat nav tv etc is the standard VAG group affair that you would find in Seat Toledo etc?

So you work for Audi then?. I wouldn't admit to that on this forum-you will have loads of questions now!. Retire whilst it is still quiet!.

The only difference is the addition of the BOSE sound system.

As I've said before on the forum, I did see a white A2 recently. It's hard enough seeing another A2 locally, but a white one. And it didn't look as bad as it may sound-a lot of white cars look dodgy-but the A2 suited the colour well.

Hi Potato

Amulet red would not have been my first choise of colour if buying new, but when buying second hand and wanting some bells and whistles, the needs must.

Now two weeks on I love the colour, still getting used to the looks of suprise / bewilderment the car gets from Passers-by. My kids still call it the lady bug, not cool.

I reckon amulet red with open sky looks the business - even tho it could be disguised as a ladybug!
#Crystal blue looks nice, again probably better with the open sky.
I had a choice of crystal blue or dolphine grey, identical spec except the dolphine grey had a 6 cd changer in the boot - sam price, both un-driven demonstrators, so I went fot the one with the CD player. First choice would definitely have been amulet red with open sky though.

On the subject of TESCOs. Wifey decided to try out Sainsburys this week. Made a point of looking for any other A2's on the car park (as you would), however non were evident. About 30 mins later, I realised why. There are some of us who spend our money on nice cars, and there are others who spend it on nicely packaged food. One good point was the express check out, however sure I managed to over charge myself? [8D]

This could get confusing, bringing another supermarket chain into the conversation; readers might start to think we are getting serious (or maybe just a bit sad!)

paulj, a modified idea for a competition: pictures of your car with a different supermarket in each one. Prize for most different supermarkets!

To get back to the original post, amulet red with open sky (and CC or course). Favourite motive power - probably 1.9 TDi, or maybe just a blower on the 1.4 petrol!

I like the idea of photos on the A2OC having a supermarket behind them-I'm off to my local Lidl now........urgh!.

M&S do lovely ready meals.

Many of us dedicated followers have pledged to give our lives and our last penny to Tesco, and yet Kaine has now gone and mentioned the “S” word. Thankfully at least if you input “Tesco” into an internet search engine you get taken direct to this forum, but this cannot last if those owning motorised trolleys start scraping the bottom of the barrel in mentioning M&S. I imagine Mrs Audi is turning in her grave.

I do have to disagree with many of the above posts. Black is a terrible colour for a toilet brush.

As you are now a Golf owner a word of warning, get some headlamp protectors. I have three break on me in 8 months and 30k.

VW only charge £25 against £157 for a headlamp:(.

Paul,

Thanks for the tip. I had been previously warned (by Chivers I believe), and therefore had them fitted when I collected the car from the dealer. I might add it all seems like a bit of a joke when in 12 months nothing ever happened to the headlights on my A2. Does this mean VW construct theirs from crap material, because it surely looks that way. Indeed instead of spending £30 on a daft attachment it would be far more worthwhile for VW to spend another £30 on a better headlamp design.

Btw, you certainly are lucky in having £72 in Tesco vouchers. That’s a lot of toilet brushes.

As it was I took my car to Tesco’s today just so that it could have a peek at its second home.

I thought the Golf was superb, I covered 80,000 miles in 16 months and apart from a faulty waste gate it never missed a beat. Typical German build (Apart from the lights!)

I also had a Vectra slide on black ice whilst the golf was parked, He hit the rear corner @ 25mph, Golf was a bit messy but the vectra was a disaster :). One less rep machine I suppose.
