Join the A2OC for our annual get together at Castle Coombe followed by the ADI Gala Awards Dinner!
Saturday 11th October 2008

http://www.audidriverinternational.co.uk

This event is the main club social of the year where we assemble often many more cars than other Audi model clubs can muster, and mix this with the many attractions of the day - not to mention meeting up with fellow A2 owners for a good chat

Held at Castle Coombe, the daytime event is easily accessible from the M4 and M5, like all A2OC meets this is a family friendly day and we welcome new faces along with the appearance of the usual suspects!

Following this event, we will once again be attending the Gala Dinner in the evening, where in 2007 we won the Audi Driver Gold Award for Club Information.

To read about last years event and our gold award, click here (http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?t=5188).

To register your attendance for one or both of the days events, follow the calendar links below:

ADI Castle Coombe (Daytime) (http://www.a2oc.net/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=20&day=2008-10-11)

ADI Gala Dinner (Evening) (http://www.a2oc.net/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=21&day=2008-10-11)

Further details will be posted nearer the time, see you there!!

Shame to see that Hilton have hiked their prices by about £60 this year!

Still, count me in - last year was a blast.

Cheers,

Mike

The daytime stuff just costs you the entry fee to Castle Combe, which is £7 and the evening shindig is the cost of the meal, about £35 per head.

If you can make it, it'd be good to see you and I;m sure you'd enjoy everything.

Is it possible to book this with ADI yet?

I did take a cursory look. but couldn't find a form or anything ...

Rather than book individually, please hold on and I will sort out a group booking.

We'll need a table of 10 and I'll then sort the details out with Autometrix. If you want to book your room though, go ahead and do this.

Cheers,

Mike

I seem to remember booking this through Autometrix last year to get their rate for the event?

Was that the case?

Wondering about making a reservation.

You're right Alan, although I can't yet see the booking info on their website.

However, the room rates have dropped substantially now at Swindon Hilton (I've just booked a fully flexible king deluxe for the 2 of us for £112, about £60 less than previously), so it might be as well to go direct.

If you'll be attending the dinner though, please book through me, as we can then co-ordinate the tables with Autometrix, ensuring that we all sit together -please PM me for details and state any dietary requirements etc.

Cheers,

Mike

I had a feeling that the Autometrix rate included breakfast last year - darrenC and driveforward can confirm, as I'm pretty sure that they took full advantage!

That's why I was going to see what Autometrix had to offer!

The room rates including or excluding breakfast can be seen on the Hilton website. There are basically 4 rates: flexible or not (i.e. you can either pay in advance or have the flexibility to cancel up to 4pm on the day) and with or without breakfast (the difference here is a fiver).

I'm pretty certain that last year, it actually worked out cheaper to book direct - I'm normally good at this sort of thing, being a Yorkshireman!!!

Mike

Hope i'm not duplicating information already posted but the attached ADI leaflet shows what's on and hotel prices etc if booked through them. It may be of interest to anyone who has not been before.

Hi Mike i wil be going down this year are you still taking the bookings for the night meal?, and if yes how are you going about taking payment (on the day ). I'm booked in at the hilton and i'm going down on the friday, are just me attending Cheryl's (the wife) not bothered

Cheers Phil

Hi Phil,

Yes, I'll take the lead on this one and collect the bookings.

No payment needed just yet but I'll collect cheques in mid-September.

What I will need before then is an idea of numbers attending the awards and meal part of the day: a table seats 10 people, so if we get a multiple of this, great. We had 10 last year and if we get the same or more, great.

So far, it's probably up to 8 (Ben+1, ULP+1, Skipton+1, GrimReaper and AlanB), with 4 confirmed, so 20 is a real possibilty.

The meal consists of 3 courses and vegetarian/vegan options (and other requirements too) are available. If there is anything in particular, let me know.

It is far easier for the A2OC and Autometrix to book through 1 person and makes the logistics easier all round.

Cheers,

Mike

Has anyone heard from Autometrix RE the club stand and daytime event?

Skipton01
14-08-2008, 08:42 PM
Unless the consensus is that I be the central contact point for both the daytime and evening events, I'd suggest that one of our social sec.s picks up the reins for the daytime part.

I will however get in touch with Autometrix to see if they'd prefer going through me for everything and let you know what they say.

Cheers,

Mike

Add Mr & Mrs C to the day and night event.

Hotel is booked and Mrs C can't wait for the buffet breakfast once again.

Me, well I can't wait to replicate last year - much to much alcohol and a late, no early morning finish with Ian and Alan B. :p

Marvellous - that's the first table filled then!

Look forward to seeing the pair of you - you were missed at the last camping social (mind you, there was only Richard, Mrs Skipton and me there!).

Thanks Mike.

Things have been very stressful of late - still not sold and the house is not exactly holding its value - prices are where we are looking to move to mind - serious negotiating will be the order of the day.

Been meaning to PM you - hope all is well and the job front has sorted itself out for the better.

Are you leading on Dinner ordering as per last year buddy?

Cheers,

Darren

Yes, I'll lead on the evening side of things (see a couple of posts back) and see if Autometrix want to liaise with a Social Sec for the daytime.

The job side of things is still in the air - we got selection criteria today as there are not enough volunteers, so who knows!?

I'm sure that you can do some really stiff negotiation, especially with the formidable Di on your team!!!

Mike

Steady on chap... ;)

Seriously, fingers, toes and "everything" else crossed you're right.

Will keep my eyes peeled for when you want the cheque posting - £35 per person if memory serves me right?!

I am thinking of attending with my wife!! both daytime event and Gala Dinner and any ideas of accomodation.

ULP

Marie and I won't be attending the Gala Dinner afterwards, and Marie may not be coming to the ADI day but I will certainly be at the main event. It's down to a number of things, but the main problem is finding time in September and October to progress my MSc work meaning the Sunday after ADI will be work, work work, for which I need to be fresh!

Ian will (hopefully!) be dealing with the day and then I'll take-over when he goes on holiday which hopefully doesn't collide with my week in France in late Sept/ early Oct (hence lack of weekends...)

I Will be there in the day is anyone up for a 10-15 minute track session this year
it was a little rushed/last minute descsion last year i think if we can organize this early
this year then we may have a better chance of getting offical photos from the onsite photographer .....

I would like another crack at it this year although ,i may have a passenger this time to even things up a little ....LOL !!!! :p

Ian was you driving on the M42 about 1.20PM today going towards Birmingham,
about 30 miles from Nottingham? - did you spot me on the other side :)

wooly, just wondering what insurance you have to get for a track season, I dont
want to end up not having a car if I try it

Skipton01

Chris, shame about the evening and Maries possible non attendance too.

Minoltaman, you'd both be most welcome - the best accomodation will be at the Holton itself, which is where the gala dinner is held - rooms start at £76 including a HUGE breakfast!

Carl, not so sure about a track session - been there, done that kind of mindset at the moment!

Cheers,

Mike

Yup, that was me :) I didn't spot you, but did see lots of A2's throughout my journey today!

You were a long way from Devon!

I'll be up for a track session if we gather enough interest for another A2 session. But 12min session just isn't enough, you can have fun but you can't really improve your lines in one short session. The most fun is go by yourself, then get an experienced pax who can show you the right braking zones and turn-in lines, then go on and see the improvement.

Richard, I wouldn't worry about insurance if it was an A2 session. Give yourself plenty of space, keep looking at the mirrors and check the right side for fast coming demo cars on the straights. Tape up your number plate before entering the venue ;-) And if you're really worried, get RAC, they'll pick you up at the track as opposed to AA

Who wants to go to Donnington on 8th Oct? I might take my little A2 for a final track ride before getting something proper next year.

How do you fancy some serious ballast? I'm up for the session but only if it's your tyres getting a drubbing ;)

Can all those attending the Gala Evening please send their payment for the event to me as soon as possible.

The meal is £35 per head and if you have any specific dietary requirements, please let me know.

Please PM me for the address to send the cheques and also who to make them payable to.

I will need to have your cheques by Tuesday 16th, so that I can then get the booking finalised with Autometrix.

Cheers,

Mike
