Hi Guys and Girls,

We are clocking up the miles on our little A2 and at the moment we want to keep it forever!

We were wondering about the feasibility of replacing the engine when it gets old and tired.
How much does it cost? Is it recommended? Can we get a brand new engine from Audi?

Cheers

A well-serviced petrol engine should last into 150K with care before you need to spend money on it. Short of running it dry on oil, it probably wouldn't need replacing instead something like a head re-build might be required if the gasket goes or some piston rings if it starts to blow oil a bit. One thing is for sure, if you need a new engine at some time I wouldn't go to Audi as they'll bend you over - I'd prefer to see a VAG specialist and get a reconditioned unit.
