Hello Chaps
Is there such a thing as an Audi baby seat for the A2.
If so do they ever come up second hand.
Some links would be nice
Cheers

I don't think there was ever a dedicated A2 seat, just the bog standard Audi seat.
My A2 accessories brochure from 2004 (& 2004 prices) shows:
Huckepack G1 Isofix Duo (8 months - 4 years) 00A 019 909 B (£190.23)
Huckepack G3 Base (4 - 12 years) 00A 019 904 (£59.99)
Huckepack G2 (3.5 - 7 years) 00A 019 903 (£34.97)
These were shown online until about a year ago as accessories for any Audi.
I use the term bog standard loosely:
http://www.audi.co.uk/audi/uk/en2/owners_area/Accessory_Packs.html
A dealer would be able to give prices/availability but I think if it has to be an Audi then secondhand would be the best bet.

Except of course we must all be cautious about buying 2nd hand carseats incase they've been involved in an accicent and are actually fatally damaged...
I currently have two Maxi Cosi car seats nestling on the back seat of my A2, one rearward facing for newborns, and one the next size up. Fit perfectly into the seatbelts and on the seat squab. Significantly cheaper than the prices you've got above too, I paid less than £80 for the newborn Maxi Cosi from Halfords.

I have a Recaro young sport (9mths -12yrs) in the A2. My little lad loves it! I believe these are available from Audi though at a premium price. Got mine from halfords £130 excellent quality and reassuringly German not like the £50 fisher price rubbish I have in my Mini.

Hi
Just purchased a Britax Duo Plus Isofix from Boots at £143.00. Its an excellent seat which is more compact than some of the other forward facing seats so the little one can kick is feet. also came top in a which survey. My advice is go for Isofix, its a lot easier and safer. Best thing is try different versions of car seat to see what your little one prefers. Use the ISOFIX option, most if not all A2's have this.

I have the Huckepack G1 for when our wee one is a bit older but I wouldnt say its worth the asking price of £190 +
Luckily we did pick this up second hand, and I'm satisfied that its not been impact damaged. I'd also agree with the isofix comments. Our search for a new travel system has that as a must. Most secure and user friendly. :)

I thought ISOFIX was an extra cost option?

ive seen a cost option in an A2 brochure for isofix prep including front airbag isolation and Im not sure what this entails. our rear bench seat has 2 isofix mounting locations for the middle section and behind the passenger seat. I dont know if this is standard spec or optional

I subscribe to Which? magazine, their tests in June 2008 had the following 'Best Buys':
Group 0 - Birth to 13Kg
1) Mothercare - Meteor (Isofix), £190, 79%
2) Jane - Strata (Belt), £112, 77%
3) Mothercare - Meteor (Belt), £90, 74% (but easier with Isofix)
4) Chicco - Autofix Plus (Belt), £100, 72% (but poor quality finish)
5) Hauck - Zero Plus (Belt), £45, 71% (but difficult to fit)
Group 1 - 9Kg to 18Kg
1) Britax - Explora (Isofix), £230, 70%
Group 2, 3 - 15Kg to 36Kg
1) Cybex - Solution X, £110, 72% (but cover hand wash only)
They also advised NOT to buy: Mamas & Papas - Teko, 16%. Separate reports on travel systems and push chairs. Hope this helps!

Sorry chaps,
Forgot to add one more thing, the great thing about the A2 is that the rear seats have great visibility, so with most car seats you should get your little ones to explore the outside world, which keeps them amused.
i have a seat leon and the rear seats are much lower and the windows are much smaller, so no doubt which I prefer for long cruises.
The only issue I have is about fitting DVD screens in the rear headrests, which is a non starter. I'm only thinking about this as it may be required when the wee one gets. Probably get ones that cover the headrests, rather than fit in.

We've got screens in our headrests. On a long journey they are a god send. Think I've seen someone else on here with them as well.

Interesting - how were they evaluating them to get those results? Did they actually do crash impact tests?

Dan - yup, they did crash tests with the same force used in Euro NCap tests. The scoring was based on:
Front Crash performance
Side Crash performance
Overall Crash Safety
Ease of use & comfort
Avoiding incorrect installation
Fitting in car
Instructions
Comfort for the child
Ease of cleaning
OK, after typing the above I have just found the full 2008 report on-line at:
http://www.merton.gov.uk/living/transport-streets/roadsafety/child_car_seats.pdf
For some other child seat brands, please note that there is also a 2005 report on-line at:

Very interesting, thanks - wonder why they don't test any of the Maxi-Cosi range?

If you look at the 2005 report linked above, they tested the Maxi-Cosi models then. What annoys me is that they do these tests every year / six months but don't seem to test all the models available at the same time or alternatively combine the results with the previous test in the magazine. However on the website ( http://www.which.co.uk ) they have sixteen 'Best Buys' for child seats (and five Don't Buys) - so they do combine test results for the website.
Hey ho.

Very interesting. Thanks for all the info, has been very helpful as we are in the market for this kit just now. As soon as I think we have made a decision my beloved does a U -Turn!!! Great fun:rolleyes: Almost settled on Bugaboo and Maxi Cosi. Fingers crossed as I am slightly less enthusiastic about pram shops than car dealerships:D
