I will get into the UK via Manchester on either the 19th or the 20th. I'll pick up a rental; I need to be in Coventry at some point in the afternoon of the 20th.

I would be really, really interested in getting a couple of A2s together for some shots in photo-worthy surroundings; for me, this means probably the Peak District, though I'm open for suggestions, and I'd really like to do a dark, wet carpark with a lonely A2 (7pm or so, on the Saturday night, somewhere in Rugby / Leamington ?)

Anyone interested?

Hi Brett,

I'm near Rugby Sat night,...........but my A2 1.2 TDI (yes one of the few UK ones) is currently without its engine controller box - sent to Germany for Cruise control reprogramming. So its still likely to be a great Static Display object in our driveway, and no doubt it will be wet too!

So., if you can't find anything else for Saturday, you can always call me on UK mob 0044(0)7968767261 to arrange 'photos.

Ciao,

Erling

I'm just outside Manchester, on the edge of the Peak District (use the my location link at the top of this post).

It'd be good to see you and show you around Tank.

Cheers,

Bret,

Mike's Tank is the one to shoot.............wet or dry, day or night, moving or still, it's the star of stage, screen and track!

Thanks for that Erling, but I think you're over stating the case a little - your brace of A2s are none too shabby either and the eco-mobile that is the 1.2TDi is avery rare beast on these shores.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Brett,

If you are looking for car park locations there are a few great ones in Coventry. Most are under the inner ringroad flyovers. One that I would recommend is the public pay-display car park off Cox Street which you get to along Grove Street (you can find these easily on Google Maps and Google Earth). It is quite long with two sweeps of flyover and columns. Can be very atmospheric depending on the lighting conditions and surrounded by grey concrete. Its also at the back of Coventry School of Art & Design where a load of today's car designers studied (and tomorrow's are studying now!). I can fire off a couple of pics in the actual car park if you want a quick preview.
It's certainly dark and very wet at the moment. :)

Sadly I will be the other end of the country on Saturday or I would join you.

that's the one opposite the old pool / next to the bus station, right?

I grew up in Coventry, but I haven't really spent much time there for sixteen years.....

Hi Bret,

Don't think we are talking about the same car park. You are thinking of the large open one next to the bus station. My suggestion is just round the corner. If you are coming from the direction of the transport museum with the swimming pool on your right, Cox street is the right turn at the end under the 'elephant building' (Sports Centre). Half way up the hill is a left turn, Grove Street, with the signposted carpark at the end. It is nestled beneath the flyover and slip roads.

Attached are a couple of pics that might jog your memory if you take a quick look at Google maps.

thanks.
Mike, I'll send you a PM with my number: I'm dealing with an amp at the airport.. it's not too far over, but what's a good time for you? I might have to pop over to Abergele to pick up an EBay bargain - again, that's only 60miles. Let me know what suits :)

Hi Bret,

I can see problems - I'm working to 10pm Friday and then 10 till 8pm Saturday! Work sucks, but maybe not fit much longer - if there are any other members who can to the photo shoot easier get in touch via this thread.

Cheers

Mike

I didn't get any A2 shots. Lots of other stuff, though:

Met ULP on the way back from Norfolk, too: that was cool. Details of the discussion will doubtless come out later - in the mean time, there's some more thought going on over in Central Europe about the possible international meet in July 2009.

details will follow.....
