As much as I enjoy having my A2, I'm not getting value for money out of it! It doesn't get as much use as I expected it would when I bought it just over 2 years ago so I'm looking to sell it on.

I'd be interested to know what would be a fair price for the car. Details are as follows:

2001 / Y-reg
1.4 TDi SE
~48,000 miles on the clock
FSH - on long-life servicing, last service was just over a year ago. Had a new cam belt, anti-roll bar, rear spring abd battery with the MOT in August.
Full leather interior
Open sky
Factory 6 disc CD changer
Digital climate control air conditioning
Metallic silver
9 months Tax and MOT remaining

It's accumulated one or two minor parking scuffs (none caused by me I hasten to add!) since the attached photos were taken.

Any input on a fair price would be much appreciated.

Nice car sir. Heres a link to the Glass Guide valuation for an 01Y A2 1.4TDiSE at 48k miles, but with standard specification

http://www.virtual-showroom.co.uk/scripts/nuvv/nuvvV.asp?laf=GLASS&clientId=PEUGEOT&nuvvPath=B&modelId=074793&valuationId=623073&manufacturerDesc=Audi&rangeDesc=A2&qualifyDesc=1.4TDI+SE+Hatchback+5d+1422cc&derivativeDesc=1.4TD&bodyDoors=5&bodyTypeDesc=Hatchback&fuelType=Diesel&trimDesc=SE&transmissionTypeDesc=Manual&cubicCapacity=1422&fuelDelivery=Direct+Injection&fuelAspiration=Turbocharged&transmissionSpeedDesc=5+Speed&transmissionDriveDesc=Front+Wheel+Drive&yearplate=2001%7CY&mileage=48

I'd ask for around £5000 ish in a private sale provided the scrapes and bumps arent too bad! Thats a desirable little car with low miles, an excellent specification and the cam belt change is a bonus too. Good luck selling privately, if you trade in you are probably looking at £4k ish

Leather and OpenSky - that's almost the dream spec for me - lovely. I doubt you'd have any problems selling it.

That looks a great car and well spec'd. Normally I would be interested but can't take on a 4th one - so would need to give one up!

If you sell at sub £5k someone will get a bargain.

Does this fit in the £35 tax band?

Is the rear seat a bench with 3 seatbelts or split with 2 seatbelts?

Also how much is leather? Just the seats or are the door cards and dashboard leather as well?

I'm potentially interested but being an animal loving tree hugger I'd be looking to part ex the leather for cloth seats so would need to know how easy it would be to swap interiors over.

Cheers
Phil

the swap is simple. The older cars, the doorcards are not leather, just the seats. The issue is replacing the seats; finding sports seats is v. difficult. You would get a lot of money, at least in Germany, for those.

Much respect for your ethics, I do admire that! If you buy this car I would gladly swap you a bench seat cloth matrix interior in grey/ black plus an agreeable cash sum for the leather :D I'll PM you my email address if that would be of interest should you buy the car

Unfortunately, you can't swap bench and split seats - they have different mounting points in the monocoque and can't be changed!

Drat! Got excited there at the thought of someone who'd rather have cloth and wanted to get the part exchange offer in quick! :o

Thank you all for your help with the valuation.

cjscos: the seats aren't heated I'm afraid. They do have a mysterious switch however (http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4325)!

Thanks again everyone.
