As some of you old timers on here will know, we had a couple of a2's - both superb. The first one written off unfortunately.
We sold the 2nd one about 18 months ago as we knew we'd be leaving the country in the near future. This turned out to be a bit longer than anticipated but we've now been in Canada for a week and I start work on Monday.
This forum was always one of the friendliest and most informative I've ever come across for car ownership. The Rav4 forums were pants and BMW were a bit snobby but there's none of that here.
Thanks to everyone involved in keeping this forum up and running and all the regular contributors. It was no surprise that after several weeks of not visiting this site, Skipton01 was the first name I saw in the posts list.
Keep up the good work guys.
Rob.
Good luck Rob, glad to hear you've got a job too. Where in Canada are you? Shame you didn't take the A2 over, my cousin works as an Audi Technician in Calgary and he'd have loved to paw over it!!!

We're in Dryden, Ontario - pretty much out in the sticks. We've got Winnipeg about 4hrs to the west or Thunder Bay about 4 hrs to the east.
It would have been great to bring the A2 over but importing a car is a bit of a 'mare and a minefield - plus we've got enough to be getting on with without that added concern.
The way of life here seems so much more relaxed and slowed down, it's gonna take a while to adjust. Plus after reading the BBC news about the murder of the newborns dad in Croydon, it just reinforces our belief we did the right thing.

Hey all,
Someone on another forum made me think of this place so I thought I'd come back and have a snoop around and see how things are going.
It's good to see some of the old names are still going strong and Skipton01 still seems to be trying to smash all forum posting records.
Life here is still good. The only downer being our vehicles are currently a 2001 GMC Jimmy and a 2004 Ford E250 - neither of which have the appeal or economy of the A2.
14 cylinders and 8.9L combined but about as much BHP as a European hot hatch.

Hi Rob
It says something about this forum that past members return frequently to catch up.
I've been to Canada a few times - I've been to Brampton, Ontario twice - and I love the country. If only my qualifications were recognised (no reciprocal agreements remain between the UK and Canada), I'd seriously consider making the move.
Enjoy!

My wife is from Nova Scotia (Truro) and we`ve had a great holiday there. We went round Cape Breton, to PEI and round Halifax NS.
We borrowed the in-law`s MX-5 and it was fantastic, and very hot.
We`re off out there in May as well for a month, can`t wait.
