Ok chaps i thought it was time i should confess the real reason why i have not
been on the forum much lately i was asked by a friend of mine to join a Choir ....
see link http://www.wessexmalechoir.co.uk/
I Have always liked singing (to myself LOL !!!)
I Think you can say i was dragged along but after going to there
first concert i thought i would be an idiot not to join ....
I Never imagined that i would ever join a choir but the choir i have joined
are amazing they have won many awards and as there was an outside
chance that i might get in i decided to go for it ......
I have been going to rehearsals for 10 weeks now and the
other night went for my first audition and amazingly managed to get
in on the 1st time of asking .......Practice Practice and More Practice....
They have sung in many places including Jersey/Ireland and Valencia
my first concert will be at Malmsbury Abbey so im looking forward to
this but im gonna have to put in lots of practice between now and then .....
Im well chuffed as singing is good for the soul so they say
Before u ask am i born again the answer is most definatly no
The choir sings something like 10% religious the rest can be anything
from Russian songs to Nessum Dorma to Mcfly LOL !!!!
My other Great news is Jess entered her first hair dressing competition the other day
at Oxford football stadium and got 2nd place overall so we are very proud parents at the moment .......
Sorry to have been neglecting the forum for a little of late but we will be back ....

As per my PM mate - I had noticed your absence and I am pleased to hear that it hasn't been for anything other than choir practice.
Well done is what I say Carl. You should be just as proud of yourself as you are Jess though. Please pass on mine and Di's congratulations to her and yourself also.
Should I ask for an autograph now before you start charging...
Cheers,
Darren

Carl,
We are well and truly staying put for now. The Stafford move was axed a month or two ago and I have literally just been successfully appointed to a role in Birmingham following a re-organisation. A daily commute beckons, but I am thankful to still have a job.
As you say given the current climate, perhaps things worked out for the best.
Cheers,
Darren

Nice one Carl - what position do you sing in (bass, baritone, tenor etc, can't see you as an alto to be frank!)?
I think most people know my hobby - anything to do with A2s or Audi really, although I have recent;y got a saxophone and will be arranging lessons soon as it's something I've always fancied (tried guitar and no-go, can do keyboards though).
As to Jess, it was always going to happen - she's obviously got a talent after the placement she won. Here's hoping that she can be a pioneer in the world of hair - ever noticed that all the top people are men? Here's to Jess being the first celebrity stylist.
Cheers,
Mike
PS Is an appearance on the next X-factor on the cards now?

Thanks Mike im a 2nd Tenor so i get to sing all the juicy notes if u no what i mean
that would be great if u could learn to play an instrument .......
Being a northerner when i was a lad i was in a Brass Band and played a cornet so i learned
to read music so now nearly 30 years later im amazed that i can still read music .....
It has really helped me out with my singing although i would still love to be able to play an instrument
of some sort so go for it mate u never no until u try it out .....
PS X-Factor are u off your trolley LOL !!!!

I can already play keyboards, but there is so much more expression and soul that you can put into a sax.
However, you wouldn't believe the difficulty I'm having in getting a local tutor. I live in the middle of brass band country - the annual Battle of the Bands (on which Brassed Off was based) takes place all around me every year and yet there are no sax teachers in Mossley.
Unbelievable!
Cheers,
Mike
PS I note you didn't rule out the X-factor!!
Blimey, I didn't see that one coming!
At school I was in the choir but I left when my balls-dropped as this appeared to be joined by tone-deafness; I'm a terrible singer now, no tone at all.
As for secret hobbies, I don't have any that I can think of although until a few years I collected Lilliput Lane houses!

So that’s what you meant by rehearsal…
Hope you do extremely well and all the best of luck.
As for hobbies, Can’t sing, can’t dance but I’m a dab hand at gardening and flower-arranging.

in comparison to that I'm boring.... just the photography - http://www.23hq.com/bretti_kivi - and the car and everything else that's attached :)
oh yeah, the admin, the 5 laptops, the little one, the garden at the new summer house.... and now I'm trying to professionalise the photography, too.
Have fun at the concert!

Well Carl i had wondered where you had gone, that cold you had over Christmas must have loosened things up a bit then. Good luck to you and Jess
Well i've been learning the guitar for years i can play just as i start getting anywhere, something comes up and it gets put on the back burner, like now re-training so most of my spare time is taken up with that, oh yes and looking after Cheryl over this last month can't forget that lol

Hey Carl,
I think it's great that you are flexing your vocal chords. I stopped with the singing when I was a teen - but am told I have a good deep voice. Perhaps it'll be my mid-life calling. I hope the rest of the family are enjoying your musical endeavours.
My pastimes outside of A2s are music & electronics; gardening & ecology; cycling (specifically on my space-frame Moulton); typography & design; architecture & home automation; and constructing interiors. Oh and political campaigning with my wife whenever a by-election looms (we've had 2 this year already!). However my day job working with computers generally keeps me occupied when I'm not doing any of the above.
It's terrible having so many hobbies... I sometimes wish I was content to sit at home and watch telly all day.
Ben
(this weekend's job - fit new Dubmeister plates to A2 - thanks for the recommendation Mike :))
