I should make it down there and have a chart. I have to give the car a run anyway. Not sure what time I can make it, probably ~8:30pm, sadly work dependant as always!

Hi Mate, hope your still on for tonight at the Ace Cafe. I'm expecting a good turn out of cars tonight, what with the good weather and all.

    Hi Humps.
Sounds a little suspect when you say it like that, any how. I was wondering if you might be putting in an appearance tomorrow night at the Ace cafe? I'm aiming to arrive about 7.30ish it'll be good to meet up again.
    Regards Malcolm

I followed the thread and found it talked about all sorts of set up from Air ride, to suspension kits, to springs kits to FSD to coilovers and i was clearly speaking about all sorts of damper set up and this was indicated in my posts.

"Are the standard sport springs shorter or uprated?
Are the standard Sport model dampers better or uprated more than the Standard dampers, and therefore can be used with lower springs?
Is a basic koni 30mm lowered springs and dampers or any kit better that the sport setup? (apart from coilovers)"

Or "and what is the level of improvement from a simple (say Koni) spring and damper set up (not FSD)."

    Not entirely ambiguous?

I don't understand your comments regarding the Elise and now we stretch to deposits for a house and a TVR Cerbera? Perhaps this conversation is better left before we stretch this any further...

    Cheers Emm

well, yes, I think people would misunderstand what you were asking were just ambiguous. If you have followed the thread, FSD for the A2 is clearly a solution to comfort so by asking 'better' SE vs Sport after FSD, one would assume it is the comfort factor in comparison.

Quite right you couldn't imagine one already decided on buying a Elise would end up with an A2, who would? But then when you have enough money for a deposit on a house, the car choices ranges from a used Punto to a Cerbera ;-)

    Hi

"EMM, I don't know why you're so obsessed with SE vs Sport model. Forget the rest of the differences in equipment spec., (excluding 1.2) SE/Standard vs Sport A2 differs in the lowered sports springs. So when two cars switch to say, FSD + weitec, there is no difference whether they were sports or SE"

I am fully aware of the differences, or lack of them between the Sport and Se. I also fully understand that fitting FSD/ Weitec etc will have the same effect of both cars once fitted, (being essentially the same car). However it will have a completely different effect compared to your old suspension, bearing in mind that mine is already very hard.

You have an SE and the suspension is softer with more pitch and roll. Mine is stiffer and with far less pitch or roll. It’s not better, just different. What I am trying to understand is the effect of the suspension change on a Sport model. i.e. As the FSD fitted to SE and Sport are the same part number etc you will gain in terms of handling however my car may pitch more than the stiff/harsh sport suspension Audi fitted to mine.

“I would think most people buy the A2 for the economy, practicality and uniquess and the harsh ride just spoils the overall satisfaction. If I wanted a good handling car for 'sporty' driving, I would have bought an Elise.”

I didn’t by mine for fuel economy, I also didn’t buy mine for uniqueness, as I bought mine in 2004 when they were still in production. However I can’t see that if you wanted a sporty drive you would go to a completely different car and double the price? A lupo GTI 16v possibly, but not a Lotus…

I have replied to your comments as the post is now locked, or at least it is to me. So unfortunately your comments regarding my “obsession” can only be replied to via a PM.
