Checks requested for low coolant temps

Scouring the threads I have found these points to check (not in any particular order) and I was hoping anyone with FSI experience of dealing with this could advise of the best order to troubleshoot and repair my coolant issue.

1) Clean contacts in the expansion tank temp sender with contact cleaner
2) Replace the expansion tank sensor
3) Replace the temp sensor on the block (May be incorrect here)
4) Check the coolant efficiency
5) Check the pressure in the expansion tank
6) Check the water pump vanes have not broken

I am going to my mechanic's place to help him replace the coolant with fresh G12+ (I just bought the car and want to give it a proper cleanse of all fluids) so was hoping someone who is more experienced can add some more points or make some suggestions. I am not shy of getting work done (either paid or myself) however I do need to know if I need to buy special parts so I can order them in time for Sat when I am getting this work done.

TVM.
