Alfie Motors - Holloway, London

Hi Gang,

Well I've moved house, and I still need someone good to diag the AC. I came across Alfie Motors:

http://www.alfiemotors.co.uk/

Has anyone used them, and have good, bad, or horror stories about them?

The website is amateur, and the location is down an alley... but it's central London, so I can't expect a shining workshop. All I want is a smart and honest mechanic.

Thanks.
Greg.

Motor Continental

Actually I've found these guys... and they seem a better deal:

Only two reviews on the interwebs, one very positive, one very negative. Does any one have personal experience of them?

I've been using Steve Russell (Russell Automotive Centre) for the past 3 annual services. Steve and his crew will take care of your car, mention A2OC and he should slap on the usual 10% labour discount.

I would recommend you to read our forum threads on various climate control issues and fixes. E.g. cycling flaps, dead compressor, G263 sender problem. It really is a mine field for potentially unnecessary big bills.

If you are based in North London then you will have a relatively short / reasonable journey to Stealth Racing at Southam and their A2 expertise. If you have a diesel and a few quid spare, you could get your A2 re-mapped by Stealth as well. My only word of caution is to take a book and arrange a day off to see them.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I think that Stealth would be good, but from me (N5) it's almost 2 hours... so not a long-term deal, but possible for one-off projects.

I need to make a few more enquiries, but think I'll go with Russell Automotive Center:

Just to close the loop, I did visit "Alfie" today, and he seems very knowledgeable and intelligent. The shop was very clean and tidy, and being so close may end up being the deciding factor.

Also, thanks for tips on cycling A/C flaps. This thread seems identical to my problem, so will hopefully save some me cash:
