Ross Tech VCDS, which one?

I am looking to get the diagnose kit from Ross Tech but I am a bit confused on which interface will work on my 2002 TDI....I think it should be the "KII-USB", but I am not 100% sure. Any advice? Or 2002 A2's were already equipped with CAN?
Is there an interface that will work on ALL A2 models?

Also, once the device is plugged in will the software just generate obscure, cryptic strings of codes and numbers or will it tell you which component is malfunctioning?

Thanks for any feedback!

Andy

Get the Ross tech Hex-CAN USB from Gendan Automotive.

That will work on the A2 + all other VAG cars.

Its about £260 but worth it in the long run if your going to stick with VAG cars

Thanks John!
Really useful....not only I will use it with my current A2, but I think it would be an invaluable tool the day that will buy another one, quite soon....

Hi Andy, for reference all A2s have a partial canbus system (with later models adding a can interface for the infotainment system) but use K- line for diagnostics.

I also have the Hex-CAN lead and VCDS gives the option of a 'canbus scan' but this does not work on the A2

Cheers Spike
