Oversized rims rubbing on loom.

After servicing at Audi they informed us loom was being damaged by wheels (oversized) thus seems born out as there is a discs/pads warning although we're certain they're ok.
Any stories to share or solutions gratefully received. Would spacers do it?

Hi that tyre size is fine as long as the wheels are not a silly offset-looking at your avatar it would appear that they are the sport alloys so will be fine. There are a few cases of this damage occurring with the sport rims so i would get the loom repaired and then ensure it is fitted out of the way. So the good news is your car isnt running oversize wheels or tyres-just sport.
cheers mike

Your alloys are a standard size, likely fitted at factory by Audi. The dealership is talking nonsense by the sounds of things.

Thanks. Was going to chop them in for standards. After reading this I will take to Audi specialist.

Cheers all :D

Before you go slating the dealers, I'm afraid they could be correct. I can't be 100% sure, but looking at the photo, I do think that your wheels are aftermarket copies of the OE 17" sport wheels.

If this is the case, you could find that the offsets are wrong, leading to rubbing and other issues.

If yours are genuine, there'll be some numbers embossed under the bolt cover cap - starting 8L0 XXX XXX

Cheers,

Mike

On your tyre size as long as the cable is out of the way you shouldn't have a problem, my summer wheels are 17's with 215x40's fitted and not had a problem with them rubbing the arch or the loom, ET on my wheels are 35

I hadn't previously enlarged the picture you posted, but now that I have, I'm in agreement with Mike; the wheels look like aftermarket replicas.

Hi all ---- after market yes possibly but they are from the look in the photo not drastically different offset to standard sports. As your aware the arches will cope with many 7.5" rims with 715/40/17 so i think its just the normal wear as some of us have experienced. cheers mike
