Fault code P0599

Hi all,

I have a 2004 A2 1.6 Petrol Fsi. Just ran a scan to get a list of fault codes and one is P0599. The manual with the scanner says this code is for "Cruise Control Circuit High" but i don't have cruise control fitted.

Does this code mean something else or is there a simple fix?
Any ideas?

Thanks

James

Tech notes
If there are not coolant system leaks, replaced the thermostat to fix the problem.
Help with this
When is the code detected?
The P0599 is triggered when there is an open or short thermostat heather control circuit.

Possible coolant leak or old thermostat needs replacing possibly....what is your water/coolant levels like ?

Thanks Draggon. This might explain why sometimes the heater puts out excessive amounts of heat even when set on a low temperature.
Looks like a new thermostat is possibly the solution; I'll get one of those ordered. Does anyone have a workshop manual page explaining where it is and how to fit?

Cheers
James
