ABS Loom issue

Can I splice the abs loom, and does it have to be soldered or will a simple splice do the trick pls?

With any wiring repair, I'd advise soldering, heat shrink and then taping the joint.

I presume you mean the pad wear indicator loom, on the front nearside wheel? If so, there is a replacement loom available - you should splice into the existing in the engine bay, not in the wheel arch.

thank you for the reply, do you by any chance have the part number, and is it have to be purchased/ordered from dealer please? how far up in the engine bay, can it be accessed from the wheel arch?

You'll have to get the loom from an Audi dealer parts department, so you're best off asking them for part numbers directly as they can and do change from time to time.

How far up? Well it's easy to spot and just below the coolant bottle - easier to solder in if the bottle is removed. You will have to unwrap the loom tape to get access to the cable.
