Well I finally got round to cracking on with my long promised alloy wheel repair a couple of weeks ago. It's a heck of a job to diy, the results are certainly not perfect but they're what I was aiming for - to smarten up the badly guttered rims and improve the appearance at first glance. In truth you can't really see most of the imperfections at standing height so I think it's made the car a bit more saleable, which for an outlay of under £20 is a real bargain. The paint is slightly brighter but you can minimise the effect of that by carefully feathering in the new paint. Here's a few shots:
If I get extremely bored I might go back to smooth the rough edges at some point. Incidentally I've already re-gouged one of the wheels!
