EML question

I have a 1.6 and the engine light has come on also there is a smell of petrol the car drives well ,does make a noise when starting and revs drop but then picks up fine ,any idears thanks guys bob.

Sorry I have no magical answers but suspect the symptoms are not linked. Things to consider -

Have the car checked for external petrol leaks - engine bay, fuel lines and tank etc

Have a diagnostic scan.

Tell us more about the noise when starting - it could be the starter pinion 'whirring' if it does not dis-engage properly (quite common)
