economical gearbox fix ?

My A2 needs the gearbox fixing,its a patrol 1.4 sport,BBY engine and GDL gearbox,what would be cheaper/sensible a recon gearbox,mine reconned or just a lower milege secondhand one ? I live in Dandbasch Cheshire.

Sounds quite major but it may still be worth contacting someone like Stealth Racing for their opinion on a rebuild.

I think the gearboxes on the 1.4 petrols are fairly similar and pretty cheap.And at a guess a rebuild will be a fair chunk more!

whats the given price for a rebuild on a gearbox spike? mines crunches in 3rd mostly all of the time and sometimes 4th so would be great to get an estimate on this :)
