Hello everyone.
An unfortunate A2OC announcement. It would appear that due to the actions of member/s on this forum that the Central Convenience Control Unit (CCCU) repair service offered by A2freunde member 'Lau' may no longer be available to our community.
This is extremely unfortunate and disappointing given that the CCCU is prone to faults and causes irritating gremlins in the A2's electrics. The repair service from Lau costs less than £100 including a loan CCCU whilst yours is repaired, as opposed to a new part from Audi being upward of £700.
The background in brief:
Members are alleged to have not been communicating or responding to messages from Lau; claims have allegedly been made that the repaired unit isn't fixed correctly, and the 'loan' CCCU given on exchange while the members component is repaired has not been returned to Lau.
The latter aspect of this is most disappointing, as if accurate, this is tantamount to theft from a fellow A2 enthusiast. Not good.
Lau is a highly valued and respected A2 enthusiast, he is an electronics engineer by profession and ( to our knowledge) is the only person worldwide who can repair the faults which arise with the CCCU. He tests the repaired component in his own A2 prior to shipping the unit back to the customer.
As it is likely that the person/persons responsible for this situation were introduced to Lau through this forum, the A2OC admin team will do its level best to address and resolve this matter in order for this service to continue being available.
The alternative is damage to our reputation as the service would be confined to the German forum, and also more A2's are likely to be sold on or scrapped because of the cost of repairs being prohibitive to owners in future.
The proposed solution:
We will contact Lau in an endeavour to resolve this. Without prejudice, we will also contact the persons alleged to be involved in the matter which has given rise to this situation. There is always 2 sides to every story, and hopefully this is a simple misunderstanding.
If any A2OC member has been dealing with Lau and has outstanding communication or any dispute over a repair, please respond to him and also contact the A2OC team using the 'contact us' facility or email us direct: [email protected]
In order to preserve this service for the future, A2OC is prepared to act as intermediary for the service with Lau. This would entail the service being auditable on one of the club forums, and a refundable deposit being paid to the A2OC Paypal account before the service is permitted to take place between Lau and an A2OC member.
Let's hope we can sort this folks. It would be a tragedy for us to lose access to this service as a result of a misunderstanding or the acts or omissions of a couple of individuals. Your comments or feedback on this are welcome, including our proposed solution. Will this work?
And if this post is a little close to home for anyone - please contact us in confidence, we're sure it can be sorted out
