Yet Another 1.6 FSi with Multiple Codes....

Hi All,

I own 1.6 FSi 2004 BAD and I've been reading with interest all the posts relating to fuel starvation.

My A2 seems to be following the trend, starts normally, drive for 20-30 mins and the car gradually stops or will not restart unless you leave it for 30 mins.

It’s been in the Local Independent VAG garage and had the following replaced based on the fault codes captured back in August'14

4 new coli packs & plugs
Fuel control Valve
Crank sensor
Intake Manifold Flap Control Value
Throttle body cleaned
High pressure fuel pump (2nd hand)

This has not resolved the issue and the car continues to stall/restart. I've been checking for codes over the past few weeks and below is a record of codes captured.

17479 (NOx) sensor - heater control - incorrect signal - 7/9/14
17428 Fuel pressures - control limit exceeded - 8/9/14
17480 (NOx) sensor - heater control - circuit malfunction - 12/9/14
17479 (NOx) sensor - heater control - incorrect signal - 12/9/14
17480 (NOx) sensor - heater control - circuit malfunction - 14/9/14
17479 (NOx) sensor - heater control - incorrect signal - 19/9/14
17479 (NOx) sensor - heater control - incorrect signal - 19/9/14 Stalled failed to start
17428 Fuel pressures - control limit exceeded - 19/9/14 failed to start

Left for 30 minutes - codes cleared

After restart

16705 Crankshaft position sensor - range/performance problem - 19/9/14
16687 Cylinder 3 - misfire detected - 19/9/14

17428 Fuel pressure - control limit exceeded - 28/9/14 Stalled failed to start

After 30 minutes - codes cleared

After restart with engine management light flashing 4 times.

17428 Fuel pressures - control limit exceeded - 28/9/14
16684 Random/multiple cylinder(s) - misfire detected - 28/9/14
16687 Cylinder 3 - misfire detected - 28/9/14

17428 Fuel pressures - control limit exceeded - 30/9/14
17479 (NOx) sensor - heater control - incorrect signal - 30/9/14 Stalled failed to start.

After 30 minutes - codes cleared.

Then the car tried to stall, but I managed to keep the engine running as I was going downhill and engine management light flashed a few times and the following error codes were captured. Misfires are probably due to me trying to keep the car from stalling.

16688 Cylinder 4 - misfire detected
16684 Random/multiple cylinder(s) - misfire detected
16688 Cylinder 4 - misfire detected
16686 Cylinder 2 - misfire detected
16685 Cylinder 1 - misfire detected
17433 Fuel pressure control valve - mechanical fault
16687 Cylinder 3 - misfire detected

So Based on the above does anyone have any ideas on what can be causing these. The mechanic has run out of ideas. I dont really want to take the car to Audi and pay their hourly rates etc as this car was bought as a 2nd family car.

Thanks in advance for any replies...

Here's hoping :mad::mad::mad:

I had numerous odd codes (mostly always with misfires) with multiple parts changed (egr-fuel pumps low and high- throttle body-lambda - nox sensor-ecu. Only fixed by fitting new injectors. Lucky for me the mechanic put my old parts back on and didn't charge me. cheers mike oh sit down when asking for the price.
