Seat heater controller

Does somebody happen to know how does the original seat heater controller (with 6 settings) in the climate control unit work?
-Does it use pulse-width modulation to control temperature?
-Resistance of stock heaters (per seat) is around 70-80W?
-I understood that as input it reads a NTC resistor (one of these per seat?), which has resistance of 8K at 20°C. Only this one value doesn't much about resistance behavior in other temperatures, but I guess it can't go too wrong.

My old seats had heaters, but I'll fit sport seats which I got shipped from UK. :) They need some repair anyway, and my upholsterer suggested installing some carbon resistor heater mats, so I'm now trying to verify if just changing the temperature sensor and making correct wiring is enough. At least PWM it would be simple, but I've not been able to verify this. He told these heaters would be "CAN compatible" but I guess it doesn't matter much with A2.
