Saying goodbye to our A2....

Well, it's been a hard decision, but I think the time has now come.
Our much loved A2 just doesn't get the use it once did, now barely doing 2k miles a year due to having other cars for work etc. We've have had it for 6 years now and it's been solid throughout.

Where should I pitch the car for a sale, both in terms of advertising and price? Here's some info:

2004/04 Audi A2
Just under 60k miles
Metallic Silver with Dark Grey Interior
Rear Bench Seat
Parking Sensors
DIS
Matching Tyres with Approx 5mm Tread
Audi history upto 45k, then done by our own technician who is very competent. Oil change every 7k miles, genuine parts only used.
First aid kit, rubber mats, carpet mats, spare wheel kit, rigid boot liner, all handbooks and 2 keys included.

It's had the cambelt and water pump done at Audi at 47k miles. Also, Swifts VWA specialist did the dual mass flywheel and clutch when we bought the car at 28k miles (we bought it from Fords of Winsford and agreed this as a condition to purchase).

It's in very good order and certainly doesn't look like a 10 yr old car. Was originally an Audi demo.

What do you guys think?

Mine is going tomorrow. It was a hard, hard decision. But since Santa brought me a D3 A8, I haven't driven the A2. I thought it would be the car I would never sell, and I don't need the money. But, the car is too good to sit there, and I believe cars need to be used, and are more likely to be problematic when not.

If we had more drive space or at least a wider drive so I could get to both cars without playing musical cars, I'd keep it. But I'd still be unlikely to use it, that's the sad truth. I love the A2, I've done about 30k miles in it, and been to the Dordogne and back in that time. But, the A8, while not as charming as the A2, is a magnificent thing. Simply magnificent.

Thanks all,

I do agree, cars need to be used in my opinion; Its even been SORN in the past, just parked away in the garage (still insured!). We brought it back out, but it just doesnt get the use since we have a number of other cars (plus my new company car on order aswell).

As it stands we have a Toyota IQ (good for getting into town etc), Merc C250, BMW 3-Series and the A2. I have just ordered a new E220 Merc aswell for work, and just feel the A2 would be better utilised by a new owner.

Its got a reasonably good spec, never been smoked in etc and should serve somebody proud in the long term.

I had the auxilliary belt and pulley done aswell recently, to keep things tight under the bonnet.

My thoughts are around £5900 - what do you guys reckon?

That would put it at the top of the scale, but with that spec and a low mileage it might well be worth it?

Best to try the market with that price (or a tad lower? £5,495 perhaps) and see what response you get and then you can drop the price a little if you are getting no response and if you want to, of course.

Some pictures would help to gauge the condition etc. and enable us to give a more informed guestimate on the value.

I would imagine that the moderators might want to move this to the marketplace section as it is now becoming a "car for sale" and you would stand a better chance of a sale in there.

It's worth what someone will pay for it. Price it slightly high and you can always come down. Price it too low, and it'll sell quickly, but you'll have that niggle soon after knowing you should have got more. You'll know from interest or lack of, the true value of the car. It's not about profiteering is it. It's about being fair.

Thanks guys, yes a fair price for all would be good. I was lucky when I bought it in a way, as I paid £8k for it then.
It has been very well preserved though, I have had a lucky run this far with any car I have sold, it's always been sold to the first viewer so I'm hopeful!
