VAG Part numbers

Hi all,

Using the excellent PartsBase the number for the radiator fan is 8Z0959455C.

If I drop the 8Z0 prefix and insert say 6E0 959455C would that be the same, or similar enough to use? or am I barking up the wrong tree completely?

I don't think it's as simple as that, but for some parts this might work.
PartsBase allows you to search for part numbers as well in the black header section at the top of each page. So you can test out the theory :)

The 8Z0 prefix normally indicates the part is unique to the A2. As the remaining groups of numbers (normally split into threes) are identical, this could mean individual parts or sub-assemblies may be interchangeable but the complete assy won't be a direct replacement - I think it's called the Brisch numbering system.
