Water in battery compartment

Hi All,
Am pretty new to the Forum and wondered if anyone had any advice for me.
I've had an Audi A2 with Opensky and ever since Christmas it has developed a musty smell inside.
I've taken the bonnet off and couldn't see any blockages but then opened the boot and false floor to find the battery compartment with a couple of cms of water at the bottom surrounding the battery. I've read on earlier threads that there is a drainage hole in there somewhere which I guess may be blocked but does anyone know where the drainage hole is? Below the battery maybe? If so is the battery easy enough to remove if it's located below it?
One other maybe linked problem is that my rear parking sensors have been on the blink and I wonder if actually the problem may be on the seals beneath the lights which I've read is a rear tyres off job to remove bumper and access. And perhaps the parking sensor terminals may have have started to corrupt too (one of the external sensors has blistered also).
My final thought is the Opensky, maybe the drainage holes are blocked there but I don't know where they are and how to unblock them.
I'm in Kent.
Many thanks

It is not a blocked drain hole, there isn't one at all in the battery compartment and the drain holes on the OSS if blocked would cause water in other places instead.
There would normally be no way for water to get into the battery compartment so they never fitted a drain hole.

What has almost certainly happened is the seal around the vent behind the bumper (seen in the picture below) has failed.

There is one on each side and these often fail. The smell can be quite pungent too can't it?

Has the bumper been off recently? A knock perhaps?

The only way to repair this is for the bumper to be removed and the seal repaired (often with silicone sealant)

Hi Steve,
That's really helpful - thank you. The bumper hasn't been off as far as I know as I've had the car 3 yrs and it's accident free. However there is a 3mm puncture hole in the bumper which was there when I bought it so whether or not that compromised the seal I am unsure.
I'll get the bumper off and replace the parking sensor at the same time.
Don't suppose there is a specialist you know if that could help in the Kent area? Any idea what cost I may be looking at too roughly?
Cheers

HI,

Sorry, I can't help much with a guide price, mine was done by the guy who did the respray and he accidentally disturbed it again when he was attaching the parking sensor loom and so he had to take it off and repair it with silicone this time.

Anyone in the Kent area that can recommend someone for Nexus please guys and gals?

Like the name! Sounds good!

Mine is called Joan, I like to take her out for a spin every now and then, occasionally I put my foot down, I like the way she handles and the ride is perfect.

and my car is called "the Project"! ;):D:D

Cheers Nexus; a lot of people have asked why Alison... Al= Aluminum in the periodic table... But to be honest; I just like the name. Have you had any success re: The leak?
