Just installed a DEFA engine preheater kit on the Audi A2 1.2 TDI and will monitor it's use over the next few weeks to see if this "Plug In" option improves MPG, startup visible emissions, etc....
The manufacturers claim up to 15% better economy (excluding electricity costs and emissions).
There are several versions covering all the A2 models. The Petrol versions use a similar set up to my 1.2 TDI - ie: Oil sump heater rated around 300W. The 1.4 TDI uses the coolant circulation system so may offer faster interior heating and defrosting.
