London's ULEZ - Ultra Low Emmision Zone

From 2020 the area covered by the congestion charging zone in London will also be a ULEZ, this means that ifyour car does not meet VERY strict emission levels you will have to pay an extra charge.

The zone will be in operation 24hours a day 7 days a week.

One VERY important statement from their website says
"If you currently have a diesel car or small van, it will not meet the ULEZ standards."

So this is perhaps the start of the penalisation of diesel cars in particular.

I expect we will se more penalties across the UK to try to drive diesel cars off the road (pun not intended).

The web site makes interesting reading!!!

Just London at the moment but I expect it will spread!!

There must be 100 low emission zones in Germany - long list here: http://urbanaccessregulations.eu/countries-mainmenu-147/germany-mainmenu-61 They've had them since at least 2010. The home page http://urbanaccessregulations.eu/home list low emission zones in various European countries. Italy has a lot as well. According to the map we have 5 in the UK - for buses.

I see diesels vehicles need to be Euro 6. A2 diesels vehicles are Euro 3 ex the 1.2L which are Euro 4 and petrol are Euro 4 - if I understand the postings on the thread I started "Nightmare-of-getting-German-Environmental-Permit" http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?13296-Nightmare-of-getting-German-Environmental-Permit I see the Ruhr area, covering 820 km², is single zone and yellow was OK back in 2010 but now green is the minimum.
