Merry Easter,
I've been searching through posts trying to find out what sort of improvements in acceleration a good remap will do. Thorough testing has confirmed its a good 12 elephants 0 to 60 in stock form.
What sort of times could one realistically expect after an average remap?
Many thanks.
Hi,
I keep on meaning to do a proper 0 to 60 test, but I don't ever seem to get around to it.
For it to be meaningful it would have to be an electronically timed proper test.
All I can say is that the difference is definitely noticeable and whatever the actual times are it feels a lot quicker.
But I am still amazed that the standard 75 is supposed to be 12 seconds or so.
I have driven lots of cars in that 0 to 60 bracket and they feel a lot slower than the tdi 75.
For example I was very disappointed with the feel of the new style Fiat 500, it felt so slow and you had to rev it a lot to get any sense of real acceleration.
With the tdi 75 it seems to go as quick as you want it to (in normal traffic) and I VERY rarely find that I floor the accelerator, even when wanting to move quickly.
Most of that is down to the torque, you really don't have to push it anywhere near the red line and it is actually quicker if you change up at 3,500 revs or even less.
So my (Stealth) remapped tdi 75 now puts out 106 (rolling road) and it genuinely feels like it is around 10 seconds (but as I say that is no real measure)
The benefit you get from the remap is far more than just a 0 to 60 improvement, it just seems so much nicer to drive.
If and when I get around to doing some proper 0 to 60 times (using the iPhone app and also via the wireless dongle in the OBD and some decent spftware) I will post the details on here, but having now started work again my time is now limited.
But the remap has been the best tweak I have done to the car in terms of driving pleasure.
