Since I bought my Tdi one month ago I have had the intention to tune it. But since I made the first test drive also been impressed by the torque it has compared to the Fsi. To verify that I don't invest in a mapping of an engine already mapped I Decided to measure the max torque with VCDS. The engine is specified to have 230 Nm torque at 2300 rpm.

The measurement revealed that the engine is mapped. Between 2300 and 3100 rpm, the max torque is 300-305 Nm!

This is how I did it, it is really simple.

  1. connect the Odb2 cable and start VCDS in the Laptop
  2. select module 01-Engine
  3. select measurement Blocks - 08
  4. select Block 20 where Engine Rpm and Torque is presented
  5. start the log
  6. drive the car uphill on third gear on full throttle. You can repeat it a few times.
  7. Open the log file and scan the highest torque and corresponding rpm.
