Door lock unlock button on passenger side?

Hi All
Have a central locking door lock/unlock button on the passenger side of my outgoing beetle and it comes in very handy.
Has anyone done this mod to their A2? Is it just a plug and play mod or do you need the wiring harness from a lhd a2 drivers' door as well as the buttons etc.
Thanks
Steve

it has been done not too long ago. Can't remember if it was here or in Germany, but it does involve pulling several new cables.

Set the CCCU to autolock at 10mph...

Hi,
Yes I have it on mine. The button is naturally from a lhd car but the wiring is complicated as it's paired to the drivers door control unit. Tony at A2carsltd did mine.

I agree it's very useful.

I've no idea if this is feasible but there is a module built into the window motor assembly which controls (via canbus ?) the window, door and mirror functions. How about adding a LHD window motor assy as this may allow the loom from new passenger door locking buttons to be plugged directly in and coded accordingly.

hmm... that would be really hard to test. the TSG for the driver's side has the mirrors and all window controls, so I have no idea if having two mirror controls on the bus would work or cancel each other out...

I would suggest that someone asks Timmus if he has any advice, he specialises in the electric operations of the A2 (amongst other things).

He MIGHT know a way of achieving this, who knows?

doing it by pulling cables is eminently possible, with the patience to pull them. It is only a simple microswitch. Trying to do it without recabling is a different ballgame.

I only suggested this because someone on the Audi Q3 owners club had done something similar. The newer Audis have a separate door control module, which I think is a common part for the drivers and passengers doors. Fitting a LHD door switch, adding the link wires then recoding the module and hey presto, everything worked.

If a similar procedure worked on the A2, adding a LHD window motor module and the door switch, without the need for a custom 'door to door' harness, would be a very elegant solution.

Maybe a RHD drivers door motor assy could be mocked up with some temporary wiring to see if the theory worked

Cheers Spike
