Ok finally managed to pap some photos of my TDI90,

we intro. im a wheel specialist and baught this specifically with thie intention of turning it into a van and carting wheels about.
iv lusted after an a2 for quite a while now as i apreceate the engineering gone into them.. much to the amusment of my mates..

Bought it for 300 quid with a voltek spoiler.
It's got a few sensor issues after plugging in the vagcom, well actually the errors are a mile long but tomorrow I will fit a Crankshaft angle sensor, and 3 glow plugs and another sensor,

Iv gutted the interior at the moment and removed 79kilos. it feels mapped the now but it cant be. just love the noise it makes coming on boost and thd 3 pot motor.. at the moment its not too far off my a5 spotback in pace.. will love it with more boost.. does anyone know what the standard boost this should be running at the moment..??

My plan for this is to get t down to or a close as possible to 850kilos, 100mpg and get it running on a gt1749va turbo.

Il update in due course

std boost is 2.1bar i.e. 1.1 bar of boost

My own designed remap files takes it to 2.62 bar i.e. 1.62 bar of boost (makes quite a difference) :)

mint thanx.. thats good to know for when i hook up my torque app.. why do you say 2.1 then 1,1?

do you know what the standard turbo can take before its out of its efficency range?? 1.65??
how much power does yours make ? any dyno graphs?

sorry for all the questions

Is it because the standard atmospheric pressure (i.e. the air around us) is 1 bar anyway and the 2.1 is the total including this and therefore the boost is 1.1? (Or am I going crazy?)

Hi enzo, good to see another Scottish member. Interesting to see how your car comes along. Great price you paid, as the Votex spoiler is probably worth way more than you paid for the car.

hi Euan thanx for the message
..
ok iv removed more weight today.. im really falling for this car..iv put 800 miles on it today.. had some bants with a few boys.. especially the 4 asians in an e90 320d, when they finaly caught up to me they were well inquisitive at how i managed to get away from them...

im sure its over 100-11o kgs shed from the weight now..so starting to get a knock on effect on everyting from braking to hanlding etc that im noticing.. for what it is, the performance availabe is potent.
i can get pretty much 80 mpg where ever i go on the a-roads around me now after today..if i drive sidaitly, and theres so much more weight i can remove still so far and things to do..

what iv documented weight removal wise..

Rear bench seat 33
Spare 12.7
Rear parcel shelf 4
Tornu cover 3.2
front passenger seat 34.8
rear crash bar 4.4

that totals 92.1 kilos

what else is removed that iv still to weigh.. all brakets from the back.. all bolts..rear trim panels. seatbelt, motors and brakets.. 3x head rests..the jack and all mounts and bolts etc.. plus iv changed the battery for 3 kilos saving.. theres a lot more to be had there too..
what im wanting to do next is take a bit of drag off the aux belt and remove the weight of the arcon pump, brakets, condensor. pipework and ancilarys plus the power stearing pump..

driving impressions after this, when i got the car a week ago.. 50s-60low mpg was possible, very frstrating as i was expecting more out of the box and employing all my eco modding driving habbets to get that.... now with just the weight reduction im getting mid 60s to high 80s still with the formentioned sensor issues..
i read in one of the first evo articles that for every 50kgs of weight removed is braudly speaking equivelent of 10bhp, 10lbft, better braking.. etc.. to take this into account would mean im at remap teritory in a sense. just by removing some weight..

theres more weight up for grabs....80-100 kilos is still in there for removal dependant on how mad i go and if i can source a 3l breaking to do so cheezing with these figures...

regading the power stearing.. does anyone know of any non pas racks that might fit off the cuff..

iv got a few questions im hoping someone knowledgable that might be reading this could help in ainswering.
im wanting to remove the egr valve, pipework... would i be able to cancel out the error light with a vcds setup?
also are N75 boost regulator valves dodgy on these? as the way it holds boost seams to be a bit iregular at the moment.. similar to symptons i had on my b5 s4 for a while..
what does the tdi90 weigh as standard?

things im looking for at the moment.
-arm rest (do they exist?)
-front and rear bumpers in the same colour..
-audi pepper pots or oem aluminium 15s
- front engine undertray..
- any breaking parts from a 3l
if anyone has any of these please let me know
pics to follow

Reactions: A2!
N75 valves constantly switch on and off throughout the rev range to control boost, most common fault is the vacume hoses perish and leak , easily replaced and very cheap to buy new hose. Im not 100 sure on the egr pipework on the 90 as different to the 75s as sure yours also has a cooler, but mine uses blanking plates on the exhaust manifold and throttle / shut off valve and is mapped out in the ecu map so no warning lights ..., some of my A2s have had the weight printed in the log book and does vary greatly depending on options but most TDIs are around 1100kg unladen, Id suggest leaving power stearing pump as not a huge weight , and once removed it will make the ABS and ASR systems shut down as im sure everything is interlinked

have fun trying to find a 3L in the UK. They're expensive and I think we figured the other week there are around 10 in the UK.

Original A2 armrests do not exist.

That was amazing to read, thanks spike. Really apreaceate it.

It's nuts I could save 81 kilos with the suspension components !

Would love to know what body mouldings I could remove for 14kg

What's interesting to note the 10percent weight saving giving -a 5peecent saving in fuel
