Hi folks. Can anyone help with a part number for the following fault please:

01271 - positioning motor for temperature flap- V68.

Had wonky climate control for a while now with the intermittent hair dryer experience. Hopefully replacing this bit will have my system icy cold for the 3 days of summer we enjoy in Scotland.

Thanks for any assistance.

Hi,

A 2004 car will have the latter revision of the flap motor which is part number 6Q0907511C. This and the earlier motor aren't interchangeable so its important to get the right one.

See this thread for some background as I had a similar problem to you.

Also this thread for more general background on the climate unit.

Hi Murdo,

i had the same issue recently on an A2 that had a blown fan motor and because of that the heater was not used fir many months.

I exercised the flap with the temperature buttons, then exercised it with VCDS several times.

I then hen gave up and asked A2Steve if he had one (and he has). The very next day I jumped in the car and it had freed itself and has been working perfectly ever since.

So please do try exercising the flap a LOT.

It is is much easier than replacing the flap motor!!! MUCH easier.

Well goodness me. I've 'excercised' the vent positions before as I know that can also get stuck but never the temperature setting. Just spent the last few minutes toggling between low and high and for the first time in ages I've got icy cold air!!!!

Well I never. Every day a school day. Thank you Steve. Isn't A2OC just a fabulous wee community ;)

Thank you Andrew . Much appreciated

Steve, can you remember how you exercise it with VCDS, I have done this manually but would prefer to automate it if possible. Cheers,

Go the "HVAC controller" then "basic settings" and select "group 001" and watch the numbers cycle until they hit zero, then repeat a few times.
