Turning off brake pad warning light with vagom

As Jeff says, it is not an option.

But people have just wired both ends of the sensor wires together to simulate an unbroken wear wire (in the pad), you might have to go quite high up the loom (somewhere just inside the engine bay before the loom goes through the wheel tub) before you get past thye break in the wores.

Better still buy the repair loom from someone like CreweAudi for around £55.


This sounds as if you are bypassing a safety feature and you are, but pads don't just suddenly wear down, checking them a couple of times a year as you should be fine. There are plenty of types of cars on the road without a sensor and even those WITH a sensor can sometimes fail and so not give you the warning.

You simply can't beat just checking your car properly, to be honest.

thanks for the responses - I have serviced brakes and the pads are fine - just the wire has broke. I will check it with a meter later and rewire if I can. will let you know
