Is it time to ditch the TDI? AND BUY A HORSE A CART?

Linking on from the BBC report on this there is an article about Norway moving to electric ferries. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-39478856 Of course they have loads of cheap hydro electricity. At the end of the article it states:

Similarly, in New Zealand a single ferry visit to Wellington used to pollute the air as much as all Wellington's cars did in a month, according to National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research figures.

Tackling just cars, mainly private owners, seems unfair, but it's the easy option. Some of the diesel trains around here are extremely polluting and at the stations when the doors are open the fumes spread into the carriages. Very unpleasant and no doubt very unhealthy.
