We are looking to improve the user experience at A2OC and would welcome suggestions to help shape what features are important for all our members going forward.

Please let us know your likes and dislikes about the current set up and any new ideas would be welcome. A first suggestion has been an easier option for posting photo,s.

Kindest regards to all.

The team.

Another suggestion would be to change the name of our facebook page from A2OC to Audi A2 Owners Club because when you search for A2 related pages on facebook A2OC doesn't show up. The facebook page could then direct people to this forum which is definately the best way to host a club.

Firstly, can I just say that I think you all do a fantastic job with the forum. Thank you

I did wonder whether we could revamp the welcome for new members a little. I do know that I got an email when I joined, but can't quite remember what it says. A bit more information in the new members bit on here may be helpful, and possibly give each new member a named contact or 'buddy' to just touch base with them a few times whilst they are settling in, gently encourage them to come to socials etc? (I'd be happy to be in a pool of "buddies").

I'd be happy to play around with the wording a bit as I have a comms background, but if we have any Marketing bods on here, they may have some ideas as to how we could market ourselves a bit more.

I also wondered about having some postcard type thing that we could put under the windscreen wipers of any A2's we may come across?

I'm sure I've mentioned on several occasions and due to my bad memory i can't remember the answer :D

Anyways, what about a chat applet where people can interact 'Live' instead of the classic PM style. That way people could get answers more quickly if a serious problem happens or people could just have a chit chat :)

I print them on thin colour card to make them stand out and then cut them vertically into 5 strips of 2 panels. That way, being longer, they are more likely to stay put under the wiper. The contrasting panel colours helps to.

Alternatively, I use bluetak to stick them to the drivers door window so they are noticed before getting in the car and less likely to be mistaken for a general advertising flyer.

Generally I'm very happy with the club and forum and thank those involved for their hard work in supporting all its activities. Thank you as well to all the forum members who keep this a friendly and supportive forum. Though I'm sad to see Steve taking a back seat, it was good the inflammatory posting by others on facebook did not spill over to this forum.

As a PC user I'm happy with the forum software but appreciate that those with a mobile may need a better interface. I see that vBulletin Mobile Suite provides iOS and Android apps for a site https://www.vbulletin.com/en/vb4-mobile/ . At 199 USD (for a site licence for both I presume) I would support such expenditure, even if I was unlikely to use it.

Looking strategically our A2s will need help to keep on the road as parts and expertise come in short supply. The guides are very useful for the DIYs and maybe garages (independents), so more guides need to be encouraged.

Maybe in the first instance some research into what other "vintage" car clubs do and what works and doesn't. A database (or access to an existing database) of compatible parts might be useful.

Obviously a small informal club like this cannot get into commercial contracts, so it is more likely to be informing, promoting, facilitating, cajoling etc. Giving visibility to specialist people (e.g. like timmus for repairing CCUs) will be important. Links with the German club is also key (I know some members like Bret are heavily involved) as they are/will no doubt be thinking about long term issues as well.

3D printing may help for plastic parts and in the future for metal parts as well. Getting Audi's support may be necessary to avoid copyright issues - an issue other clubs may well have come across.

I agree with Alan about the links with the German forum. Very little of thier ideas filter over to our side. I understand there are copyright issues but it would be great if one of our German literate members could keep us updated about anything big that's happening.

When I was secretary I created a more comprehensive welcome pack that got automatically pm'd to any new members. Euan set this up the tech side of it but I'm not sure whether it is still in place. I still have a copy if the admin team want to tweak it a bit to use again. It would have bee happeninh for the last 18 months or so, so if any new members could confirm receiving it it would be great to know whether it is still working as it should.

Yes Steve, it is still up and running. It does work as I had an email the other week referencing it.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. Please continue to let us know all your thoughts no matter how small an issue you think it is.

I had a quiet day at work (Christmas Eve - no bosses in) and laminated loads up. I can give people some at the next meet if they want a few as I always have them in my car and both handbags (sorry about the girlie bag thing). Handed one out at the weekend and it got my blacks done for nothing at the car wash

Just to add that I (knowing not a lot about cars) find this site very useful and appreciate all the work that goes into it and the meets. People have been so helpful to me, as has the advice on here and at the meets. It's easy to look up previous posts of any issues to see what happened and it's very easy to put one on. Agreeing with what someone said earlier, it would be good to have the posts sectioned by engine type. For example: Sometimes I will read something and it will be all about a diesel when my car is petrol by the time I get to the end of it.

I think the Facebook page could be used a lot more. It will get the club a lot more noticed as thats where a lot of the action is these days. Facebook is annoying at times but it will grow the club more I'm sure. We could post pictures of our cars, pictures from socials etc. It won't take away from the forum I'm sure. Its just that Facebook is easier to use on mobile devices if you have a spare five minutes. It will compliment the forum and send traffic this way too.
I'm a member of a couple of old school bmx pages on Facebook and they are really popular and great communities who often meet up for social events.

From a forum perspective I'd lock down the classifieds a bit. Some threads are really long and it takes an age to find what you are looking for - this isnt helpful when people are looking to buy. On the TT forum the sale threads are locked down so that no discussions just an advert to meet minimum requirements (Picture, price, etc) and no further comments allowed except poster to advise of items sold. Might help some of the sales.

When I get a bit spare time I plan on updating the little 'flyer' cards with the new logo.

I never received a welcome pack when i joined in November 2015 or any thing else.

,

There wasn't a automated welcome pm with info then. This started mid to late 2016.

Any chance this could be re-emailed to all members, or at the least "available on request". I'm pretty sure I didn't get it, but I can't really remember WHEN I joined (as soon as I post this it will no doubt tell me!)

"12 Dec 2013" it says in your profile. I'm sure it can be emailed or I could just post what Steve wrote on here. It is just the basics that most users know anyway like how to post etc.
